Player Discussion Lane Hutson: Part 3 - Calder Edition

Two completely different defensemen. Mcdavid does what hutson does on the pp, creating space for others, and bouchard is often the finisher with the deadly shot
You’re right but it’s just a way to say he would be producing even more with elite players.

This isn’t even his final form, and Demidov is still yet to come. It’s like the Power Rangers turning into Megazord
Ok, but I want the lightning effects and the pyro and the whole 9 yards when they do

Leads the league in PP assists for D while not even starting the season on the first wave & being a rookie. He could end up being the best PP QB in the league.
Happy the way everything is going.

But what could have been if MSL had put him on the 1st pp from the beginning, as we all knew should be the case...

I think fairly early on, most of us around the 10-12 game mark knew he should be.....we were struggling as a team, and wanted him there.

Simply amazed at his talent........as a freaking rookie!!!!!!!!

Hutson is now 11 points away from being in the top 10 for alltime rookie D points. 14 points away from being only the 10th rookie D to get 60 points. 20 points away from being #5 all-time (and #1 in Habs history). He's presently 30th, with 22 games to go.

He's now already 11th all-time for rookie Dman assists, a single assist away from Moritz Seider who holds the 10th position. He needs only 8 more assists to become only the 5th rookie dman in NHL history to get 50 assists. He needs 14 more assists to pass Chris Chelios as #2 all-time. He needs 18 in his last 22 games to tie Larry Murphy as the record holder.

He's now 5 ES points away from the top 10 for rookie D and 13 ES points away from tying the rookie D record. He needs 10 more to break the tie at #3. He's a single ES point away from tying Quinn Hughes's rookie season, with 8 games to go to match Hughes's number of games played.
He will beat Larry Murphy imo, the kid has it in him. He needs to avoid a 4-5 game pointless streak to do it, but it is well within grasp.

Not sure the extent of his PP minutes, but he had 4 PP assists in his first four games his rookie season so pretty good indication to me he was getting at the very least similar PP utilization as Hutson was early this season.
Did Makar get powerplay minutes in his first 15-20 games?

Makar was the most used defenseman of the Avs in his 1st 20 games, tallying 81 minutes (4:03/g, Girard was 2nd with less than 3 min per game) and 9 points, so that alone tells you he was used on PP1 with Mack & company.

Comparatively, Hutson had 45 minutes (2:15/g) in his first 20 games and 4 points, and we already know he was used mostly on PP2 with scrubs.

Many on the main boards doubling down with the poor dman on a heater narrative, no doubt. I had to stop visiting those cesspools.

You should go take a gander at the new Lane Hutson thread on the main board, started by yours truly.

The All-Encompassing, All-Consuming, All-Burgeoning, All-Lane Hutson Rookie Dman Milestones and Records Watch.

Naturally, there were some mouthbreathers who came in to poopoo Lane.
