Hasn't grown to 5'10", though. Just over 5'9", I believe. Plus,he has a hunched skating style, she still looks 5'7"out there.Hutson was drafted 62nd because he was 5'7, he would have gone higher if NHL teams knew he would grow to 5'10.
I understand he's picking his spots more but he seems to have removed the flash from his game unfortunately. He needs to bring it back and just use it more sparingly.
I've noticed him using it when he has a stable d partner and isn't playing on his off side. Hutson-Carrier would be great if we weren't catering to Matheson. He used it quite a lot last night. Drew a penalty off of it, too.

If you go back and watch highlights earlier this season, players were pressuring Hutson pretty heavily at the blueline and I think that was giving him a lot of opportunity to do the shimmy shakes and dangles. He could get past the guy pressuring him and then the next thing you know the defensive team is both outnumbered and scrambling to try and cover Hutson.I understand he's picking his spots more but he seems to have removed the flash from his game unfortunately. It seems lately teams are giving him more space at the blueline/not pressuring as hard. I think because of this he's relying more on his passing than his dangling to generate offense. It seems teams are picking this option because it's the lesser of two evils, at least if he makes a pass the defending team in theory isn't outnumbered and can remain structured.
Time for everyone in the league to give this kid some credit, He is having a great season!!!Last night, Lane tied Rasmus Dahlin for 42nd best rookie dman, with 44 points.
With 23 games left, he needs 16 points to become only the 10th rookie D to reach 60 points. He needs 16 assists to be #2 all-time rookie D assists. He needs 12 ES points to be #3 all-time rookie D ES points.
Despite what some people say about his defense, he's second D on the team for GF% at 5v5 (-2, Carrier is +4) and he's 3rd behind Struble and Carrier for xGF% at 5v5.
His -16 is almost entirely due to empty net situations where he is 0GF/13GA.
Lane is already just 3 assists away from top 10 all-time rookie D assists. He's presently 15th all-time, with a little less than 3/4 of a season played.
Trying to find out the QOC stat for Lane. I'M not an analytic master, still suck to know which is what, but where can I find this? I know a couple of websites that usually does...but QOC seems nowhere to be found? Which other analytics could tell us how our kid does against competition?
