27 pts in his last 25 games. 24 assists and 16 ES pts in those 25 games.

With 36 games to play, he's 25 assists away from tying the rookie D assist record and 17 ES pts away from tying the rookie D ES point record.

When should we start a record watch thread on the main board? :naughty:
I will post it this weekend. It should be fun Lolol.

No don't. Please. I was waiting for Lane to at least get to 50 points. I have a post already written up with each milestone, standings for number of games for each Milestone and a few records he could reach.

But if ever you're going to do it, please use the following title:

The All-Encompassing, All-Consuming, All-Lane-Hutson Milestones and Records Watch Thread.

When he actually hits it.

Well... there are a few records and milestones. I wanted to start it at 50 points, since only 18 rookie dmen in history have done so. There's also the matter of number of games to do so, as Hutson has the possibiliy to beat or join or fall just short of Makar who's the 3rd quickest to do it (57 games). Hutson needs 11 points in his next 10 games to tie him.

Then the thread would follow the 60 pts milestone, which only 9 have done so. Number of games, ect.

Then the possible records. At 50 pts, Hutson should be around 45 assists, 10 away from second place all-time. 15 from 1st place. Then ES points, total points.

Interview with Lane's mom (Julie) who lives with him in Montreal

"It’s definitely been fun exploring the city and the games at the Bell Centre and taking it all in,” Julie said. “It’s a great city. I’ve enjoyed my time here. I just like walking around and taking in the fresh air and the energy of the city being downtown.

“I love the passion the fans have for hockey ... that’s the best part of it,” she added. “I couldn’t imagine Lane playing in any other market. I don’t think it compares to any other market and we were in a pretty big market in Chicago for three Stanley Cups. But that Bell Centre gets so electric that it’s insane.”

I really do hope we lock him up this summer after July 1st. Something I was thinking about was the looming announcement on a new Canadian TV rights deal. I believe Bettman is negotiating this now. Sportsnet has another year after this season I believe. Once that deal is announced, I believe we are going to hear lots of talk about even a higher cap increase to come.

Hutson's first year after his ELC (26/27) might be for a cap that is very close to $100M. It's scheduled to be $92.4M next year and Bettman was talking about pushing it up so the cap system is not shocked. The latest info and way to limit the cap growth was to cancel escrow payments for the rest of the season and also share extra profits to the players so they meet the 50/50 revenue split (read article below)

Hutson's new extension comes exactly when the new Canadian TV rights deal kicks in (extra $$$).

It's fantastic the season he is having. As a member of the pipsqueak alumni it's great seeing him and Cole having a great season and are super exciting to see.
