I honestly dont think Im being arrogant at all. Maybe Im a bit biased? You can accuse me of that....no issues with that. Looking at the stats atm...right in front of me...if Im voting for rookie of the year...I will be extremely hard pressed to vote against Hutson. That's my opinion based on hard evidence. There are different ways of saying it at well and some might think thats a bit too arrogant...;-) but I dont feel that I was...the case closed thingy is a way of saying here are the facts...case closed.
arrogance towards the desperate twerps STILL trying to downplay the absolutely historic season Hutson is having is warranted. Those posters suck. Deserving of mockery.

...I didn't say "YOU", amigo; just pointin' out that we all might wanna tone it down a notch or two...yup, we got a stud Rookie who's doing something historic...we don't need to crap on other players while we're celebrating Hutson is all... :thumbu:

I mean Hutson could end up finishing top 2-3 in points all time as a rookie defenceman. Ghost not even top 25

Ghost was top 9 in goals....Hutson will break the record for #1 in assists.

Both of these are huge swings in Hutson's favor. Where are the Ghost comparisons im confused
It was just a comparison of their rookie season because Ghost also had a remarkable rookie season where he arguably peaked. Scoring the goal, as a defenseman, is the result of multiple good decisions in a row, and to do it as many times as he did in a lower scoring era, as a rookie, with less games played than those ahead of him in the all time rookie rankings is what puts it comfortably over the top for me. My original post had nothing to do with comparing them as players/careers or downplaying Hutson's historic season. He'll win the Calder and deservedly so.

You didn't respond to my last reply to you, which had plenty of counter-arguments.
I guess you did make that argument "Goalscoring by a D can be very situational and consequent of the strategies of a team's make-up, setup plays and the like". I just didn't find it very compelling, but if you're arguing in good faith I apologize for ignoring it. I think it's easy to downplay any stat by using similar logic, I just don't see the point here. I could say the same about secondary assists being the result of Hutson passing it to Suzuki who makes the play to either Caufield/Laine (both elite finishers) and that's how he got his points and we should therefore not consider these points as much, but that would be unfair to how Hutson actually plays the game.

You forgot the part about Ghost's goalscoring plummeting the following season, which showed how situational it was, proving my point. Forgot Souray's Habs record vs preferring Markov.

Wouldn't matter too much in their respective rookie seasons as far as voting goes or for "historic" listing purposes but that's an excellent point.

Ok that's fair. I can understand your POV if ghost played the full 82. Prorated he'd finished with 22 goals, 2nd all time. Of course a good comparison from that angle.

Fact he only played 64 games hurts his case tho. He's too far off from what Hutson is doing with his apples for me to say Ghost>Hutson here. Still a good comparison but more of a what if then anything

It's hard to find a comparable to Hutson at 5ft9 other than the cliché Makar and Hughes. He needs to work on his shot and will probably shoot like Erik Karlsson.

...he does remind quite a bit of Hughes, though...Hughes didn't have a great shot when he entered the League either and worked on it...if Hutson can do the same and reach similar results, it's another win...

Does Huston remind anyone of peak Rafalski? Mind you peak Rafallski in his rookie year is very impressive.

In terms of controlling the offensive blueline, he reminds me of Quinn hughes.

He's got that obsessive trait in him. He literally needs to be told to get off the ice. He was the only one to show up to the rink the other day after playing 4 games in 5 and half nights, working on his game. That's the part I had no idea about when he was in college.

When a main board thread actually tips in the favor of the habs argument they become absolutely illegible
