Lane Hutson Burgeoning Star Watch

Last game I watched of the Habs was vs Toronto where he was -5 and MTL went from 3-0 3-7 . Not saying he is a shit defender but saying he is superior to L Hughes seems off. They are practically in the same tier to a outsider .
I've seen Selke winners go -5, or great defenders in their prime, let alone a rookie D. So who the F cares? That was a one-off based on who he was playing with that shift, minutes he played, bad game, and in a blow out. Give it a rest.

L. Hughes? Who is even talking about L. Hughes right now? We're talking about Hutson.

Quinn Hughes got destroyed last year in the playoffs the same way. I remember watching Nashville just hammering and hammering him. I wonder why that isn't effective on a guy like Makar who isn't a huge man either. As the other poster mentioned Hutson is extremely elusive and aware of what is going on the ice at all times but in a best of 7 where you keep dumping it into his corner hes going to get hit
Makar took a good wack tonite from Kadri and got back up.Tough bugger growing up in cattle country.

Makar isn't tall but he's built like a brick shithouse and has a center of gravity in the lithosphere

He is playing great but I will be interested to see him in playoffs vs Capitals when things ramp up with Wilson etc trying to crush him.If he handles that well, then I will definitely be a believer.
That is my final test as well. He's surpassed everything else with flying colors but I am damn curious how he handles the playoffs.

I'd feel stupid to bet against him tho he is too smart, too competitive, too skilled. He will figure it out even if it takes him a few games

Yea Nashville's whole game plan last year was taking down Hughes. He was getting double teamed & swarmed whole series

I think he'll adapt as he always does, but he may need a competent, quick-thinking partner to defer to in a pinch. Hopefully Reinbacher can become that

I mean I've seen more than that one game but it was the last time I watched the Habs. There was also a game vs Boston where he was on ice for 5 goals against. He has a lot of room to grow and there is no reason he cant. But lets not act like he isn't a defensive liability at times.

Most times, his defensive metrics are terrible. Reminds me a ton of Shane Ghostisbehere.

So two games then

Boston game was at the very beginning of the year as well when the Habs were a tire fire
I love how Lane Hutson is the only Dman in the NHL to ever get blown out , you'd think the league would be full of 2-1 and 1-0 games the way these haters talk about defence in the league , just shows they have a narrative , as if these other dmen are absolute shut down guys night in night out and singlehandedly prevent their teams from being blown out when their team dosen't play well lool turn on any hockey game and you will see errors from every single dman in the league on goals against

I guess Makar Hughes Hedman have never been blown out in their lives correct? I wonder if people actually watch hockey because you can turn on any hockey game and see most dmen in the league get completely coned. Lane plays better D than the vast majority of NHL dmen in the league.

You mean rookie Gostisbehere when he had 17 goals in 64 games? Hutson with more than half his assists being secondary certainly hasn't passed him for his career. Hutson will very likely end up being a superior player but Ghost easily had a better rookie season.
He had 46 points as a rookie LMFAO

I meant his career high of 64 points

This is one of the worst opinions I’ve seen in this thread so far, good job

This season

Ghost
18 primary points in 64 games (0.28)

Hutson
28 primary points in 73 games (0.38)
Not sure why I would care about current Ghost? I was talking about his rookie season because that's what was being compared initially. Ghost had 31 primary points in 64 games (67% of his points) while Hutson has 27 (48% of his points). Point is, scoring 12 more goals in less games is very impressive. I guess y'all completely forgot how highly touted Ghost was after his rookie season or...?
