Im not saying you didn’t say that, im saying i find it hard to believe that there were habs fans that disagreed with you if you did say it
Here ya go:

Denial. Not just a river in Egypt.

All aboard the Lane Train!

Looking like the Habs have thier version of Adam Fox. I'd like to see the Habs make the playoffs and drive their haters insane. Real fun race in the east! Ottawa,Habs and CBJ all would be a good story and as always Buffalo isn't in on it.

A lot of bad takes because

1. Most posters don't actually watch games of other teams. They pretend they do, but they don't. So when they talk about Lane Hutson, they are talking about an imaginary player that exists solely in their head.
2. Their opinions are formed by stat sheets and lazy narratives based on a player's physical proportions and attributes. "Oh, he's small and is offensive, he must be Marc-Andre Bergeron." Complete lack of nuance.
3. They make their judgments based on the team the player plays for instead of what they actually do on the ice.

There were many habs fans skeptical that his game would translate to the big leagues. We were super hopeful, but we had a healthy skepticism. Then he played those two games against the Red Wings at the end of last season and it was 100% clear that this was a special kid. It reminded me of when the habs called up Subban against the flyers in 2009, and it was apparent that the game would translate.

It's a shame because a lot of posters are missing out on a special player.
Nailed it..........very good post.

So stats check
Advanced stats check
Eye test check

6th in dman scoring as a rookie
Second rookie dman has 8 points
22min a game as a rookie? And getting more and more
Skating is way better than we feared with straight like looking to be close to a Quinn Hughes as per some timed runs

It's also not a coincidence that the Habs turned their season around when he took over as number one D and especially as PP1 lead, not taking anything from Laine and Carrier but the timeline tracks better with Hutson

He kinda put the team on his back last night, it's not a stretch at all to say we literally just lose the game if he's not on the team...... he's been a force in all of these tight games and comebacks..

In the tight games, Hutson played like a man possessed. He is ultra competitive and such a winner.

Yeah it was a fairly contested topic on our board. Most thought Hutson should start on pp1 but also understood that it's hard for a coach to take a 60 point veteran dman off without very good reason. Then Hutson was generating chance after chance with the literal worst pp2 lineup in the NHL and after approximately 2 games I think most people were on board.

As for Hughes vs Hutson, that should be a fun debate to follow moving forward. Love watching Hughes play.

You’ve pretty consistently been the most pro-Hutson non habs fan in this thread all along

Eventually you will cave on Hughes :)

Hard not to be a fan, kid is dynamite.

Nothing would make me happier as an American fan to have another dman better than Luke Hughes lol, but I'd be shocked if he ever had the all around impact of Luke. The size/athletic advantage Luke has will probably be too much to overcome. Luke has taken over games this year in a way I've not seen from another dman in the league aside from his brother.

Kudos to MSL for his handling of Hutson. Seems like he has done a great job in level of responsibility as the season has progressed. Hasn't pushed him too hard while also not held him back. The effort level of the team from game one and the improvement over the season tell me that this coach is doing a hell of a job.

I see that there are a lot of Habs fans commenting in this thread; that's totally normal. I wonder if any NYR, Canucks, Avalanches, Blue Jackets or Predators fan can compare Hutson to your top D.

He might not have the overall impact but there is certainly a chance that he reaches a level where his offensive abilities are so far beyond that he still clears.

Not saying it will happen for sure, but it definitely could. This guy has borderline Quinn Hughes upside we can't even deny it anymore, he's on pace to break the all time rookie assists record. All time.

Luke's offensive upside is also sky high. His counting stats are lower due to (1) terrible 5v5 puck luck and (2) not playing PP1 because they want a shooting QB (Hamilton).

His on ice xGF at 5v5 is 32.7 vs only 20 actual goals for, to give you an indication of his puck luck this year. If you adjust for that and the PP duties, he's probably closer to 30-33 points instead of 18.
