I knew he was special more than a year ago after his D+1 season. To outscore Quinn Hughes, Cale Makar, Adam Fox in the NCAA takes skill and insane IQ.
What I wasn't sure is whether or not he would be able to keep the level of performance and carry it over in the NHL. So far he is doing just that. I expect a little short term dip as the grind of a full NHL season hits him but sky is the limit for the kid. We could be looking at the best defenseman in the league soon.

This thread started out with all sorts of HF fans posting but it's turned into the HFHabs Hutson thread #2

I come here sometimes just wondering what other teams' fans are thinking. Oh well
Some fans from other teams who enjoy watching talented players even when they're Habs still comment from time to time but all the haters are MIA. Thread feels a bit empty because there were so many.

I guess I'd be gone too after exposing myself with so many clown takes.

You can put a thread on "ignore" i think. I bet they all did lol

Remember he wasn't even playing top minutes to start the season. Once he started, he's been great but has also improved over that stretch, I doubt he's done progressing for the season hah.

70ish points isn't out of the question if the Habs themselves stay hot and are rolling with Caufield and Laine sniping goals.

Only 13 defenseman in the entire history of the NHL have paced this well as a rookie (40+ games, 0.8+ PPG); last Canadien to do it was Chris Chelios. Man, the Habs are sooo lucky to have Lane, he's like a waterbug out there! Reminds me of our own huggybear here in Vancity.

They now have all of the foundations in place... even goaltending looks solid with Dobes/Montembault longterm. The team is heating up lately, but they're realistically a few years away from being a real cup threat. When Mogilny 2.0 comes over next year, their window officially opens IMO and will be in the mix for the next decade. How poetic would it be if the Habs were the first Canadian team to win the Cup back from the dark dirty clutches of the 'Buttman', and close the 30 year drought? ;)
