Landeskog returns. Avs loan him to AHL for conditioning stint

Doesn't take away from what i said. Cleary he is good enough to start game 1 ........
Players enter the playoffs hurt all the time. If they can heal up from a long season and come back as healthy as they can be despite the situation, I don’t see the issue. Hell, even in junior hockey we’d play hurt in the playoffs and this is the NHL. If they have a valid medial reason to be out, I do not see the issue at all.

I see the opposite side that you do. You see players mysteriously being fully healthy by game 1, I see players seeing game 1 and playing despite what they’ve been through because that’s playoff hockey. I bet most of them aren’t 100% by game 1. There’s certainly some but I doubt all or even most are.

Wasn't ready enough for game 1. Where's the cap circumventing conspiracy crowd tonight??
Most likely Sakic arrived at the office one morning, expecting a relaxed read of his daily hfboards intel report while sipping his coffee. Instead, he got slapped in his face with the reality of hf detectives exposing the Landeskog plot. The entire front office goes into panic mode and as a result, the plans for having a fresh Landeskog play the entire game ends up scrapped and they're forced to scratch him instead as a last ditch effort to outsmart their armchair opponents.

It should be an immediate perma ban offence to whine about cap circumvention in this thread. Guy was out for 3 years with a career threatening injury and might actually never come back to full form anyways, or even playable NHL level form, and people have the unoriginal brain dead audacity to bark like this. Jesus. What's wrong with people.

Time to eat crow it seems. I expected him to play a game or two in the AHL and call it quits, like Ben Bishop. Never in a million years would've thought he could be an impact player in the NHL again after that much time.

Does he look good out there? I saw the goal, but it didn't show much.. Nelson did everything except shoot. It's not something that helps evaluate Landeskog's skating or any other game facets.

Edit: for all the cynical dumbasses who see this as a negative post for some reason, it's not. I'm happy for Landeskog and only wanted some feedback on his play. Keep your toxicity away. Thanks.

21 shifts; about 15 minutes. First star.
Playing his heavy game. Impressive performance. Huge add for the Avs if he recovers well and is okay for next game.

He looks freaking awesome. There may be a bit of adrenaline working here (ok, more than a bit), and I think strength wise he’s still working his way up but other than that…it’s incredibly vintage Landeskog. He’s already on the second line after one game on the third line, he’s hitting, skating hard, driving play and being an absolute catalyst out there.

This isn’t “shadow” Landeskog taking a farewell tour, that’s for damn sure. I think having spent 3 years out people were right to be skeptical…but I think it’s worth considering that yeah, maybe he didn’t want to come back and took his time with such a crazy rehab to make sure he could be the guy he wanted to be still.

It’s truly amazing. If he had missed zero time and you just teleported from 2022 to 2025 and watched the last two games, you’d probably be like “yeah I mean classic Landeskog, just a few years older.”

Seems as though you didn’t see Landeskog jousting with Bischel in front of Otter on Girard’s goal. Viking mode is back with a vengeance (not that I saw it coming back so quickly if ever. Just fricking amazing).
