Landeskog Practicing w/Team

*LOL* I would love to see Cale's expression the first time he heard this story.

Probably sits there stone faced like he did when Gabe asked him about it and says he can't afford to think about it and let it affect him.

I hope Cale takes a nice long vacation this summer. I think he might put too much pressure on himself to be Superman.

The way Landy played stupid games about when to return really put a bad taste in my mouth about this dumbass show. Won't even bother pirating the last episode
He didn't. Says in the episode that it was mutually agreed upon by both he and the coaching staff that he would return in game 3 at home, before the playoffs started.

If you're ready, you're ready. Don't play games. Him being in the lineup potentially flips that series and we're still playing right now
Just watch the latest interviews and the show, and you'll understand why it was done that way. It wasn't for the show or selfish reasons. He explains it all, including why he took warmups before Game 2.

Do you really believe everything you see on TV?

Dude played in back-to-back nights for the Eagles. He was ready. The Avs FAFO'd the situation. It wasn't purely Gabe though. As you said earlier... it was a mutually agreed upon decision to FUBAR his comeback and possibly our playoffs.

You really think Landy lied about it, and did just for a GD TV show? LOL. Watch the show. As I said, he explains it... Or don't. I don't care.

Now wait just a second. I'm not saying he wasn't injured. I'm not saying he was ready to play in March. What I am saying is he played in back to back AHL games and then reported to duty with the Avs having been given a clean bill of health. Anything that kept him out of games after that point, in my opinion is theatrics. He had played competitive games on back to back nights. The hell was another three nights going to do for him?

Let me put it this way. If I have to watch a f***ing miniseries documentary, AND a 45 minute interview to find out why he was cleared to play with the AHL and then chose not to play in Game 1 with the Avs... there is a f***ing boatload of theatrics going on.

Sakic also said this in the end of season presser. Bednar also talked about how Gabe wanted to feel the playoff atmosphere in warmups in Game 2.

He had a very methodical process of coming back, step by step with everything, much of it mental as he talked about himself.

You realize how preposterous this sounds?

He's cleared to play... but they mutually agree that his first game with the Avs will be game 3 at home.

And you don't believe theatrics played a part in this.

I mean... methodical? Sure, I guess you could call it that.

It seems a bit dramatic to me, though, that he was able to play back to back AHL games, ramp up his skating, but then couldn't play game 2 when we badly needed someone in the lineup to replace Colton yet a couple of days later he is ready for game 3.

It did leave a sour taste in my mouth a bit, too. That entire game 3 seemed like "The Gabe Landeskog Show", like a random ass game in the regular season that had a special theme night or something.

His return was spectacular, no doubt, but I can't help but wonder if some guys in that room also felt a bit like "you look unreal, why couldn't you have joined us in battle two days ago?"

He played two games in the much slower AHL though and then had a week off. Not sure how much conditioning benefit that gave him for NHL playoff games.

I always thought managing his minutes and matchups the first game back, when they had no idea how he'd play, was the biggest reason, in addition to Gabe's process. Much easier to do that at home.

That's why I thought they waited to play Malinski at home for his first playoff games too.

Supposedly it was Landy’s decision because he wanted couple of more days before playing in a game. Maybe it was theatrics or he just wanted few more days of rest/rehab

He wanted the medical and training staff that was available at home. He wanted the support staff and family that was available at home. He wasn't comfortable going out there on the road to start.

He said the AHL was a good test, but no one knew how his body would react. He said he would practice one day with the Avs and it was like he hadn't played in 3 years, and the next he'd feel like he hadn't missed a day. Playing in an AHL game is one thing, playing in an NHL playoff game was another. He also said multiple times that they had a good team, and he didn't want to go out there and mess that up, and their whole plan was to take it slow.

He took Game 2 warmups just to get the feel of the atmosphere and the the nerves out of the way. Said he felt a lot more comfortable in game 3 during warmups, but still had a hard time keeping it together mentally.

But hey, F the guy for not going out there game 1 cause he was medically cleared, right? He's did it all for f***ing TV theatrics.

Give me a f***ing break.

Man... I'll stop on this after tonight.

But Landy was cleared for duty and failed to report on game 1. His call, Bednar's call, mutual call... whatever. It was bullshit. Clear, pure and simple bullshit. There was nothing preventing Gabe from playing game one other than a plan.

This man, our captain, will single handedly have this group chomping at the bit to rip in next season. I'm so excited. As excited as I was in our cup year.

Imagine last year's quality team, with actual time together to build combinations and chemistry.

Good luck every other team ! Hahaha
