New York Islanders: Lamoriello Contract Not Renewed; John Collins Searching for Next GM

Strange take. The only "big name" that turned them down was Holland by taking the Kings job. Bergevin probably had an offer to stay on with the Kings if he wasn't selected for the Isles job.
What big names did you see linked to this process at all? After Holland it was pretty meh in terms of candidates. That should tell you something. I’m wondering if they had to give Darche EVP. I’m excited for the change and interested to see what he can bring but this is alot for a first time GM to take on. He’s got much more on his plate than a roster.

You're the one who used the phrase, so I assumed you were speaking of Holland, Bergevin and Jarmo as "big names". And since it seems like you weren't referring to them, what "big names" do you think were available that the Isles didn't or couldn't interview?

As for the EVP title, it seems like Darche wanted that in addition to being GM. But if the Isles didn't want to give it to him , they probably wouldn't have, and would've circled back to one of the other candidates instead. Shanahan also seemed to be in the mix.

Well, we know Darche acquired or played a role in TB acquiring Duclair at the trade deadline last season.

Wonder how excited Roy is about that.
