Zito is the exception though. They also had Howson and McFarland.Jarmo hired Zito, FWIW.

The isles issue to be even was a normal owner and legit building. CLB actually had those. The isles did not, but now they do.FWIW, Kekalainen was able to acquire elite NHL talent fairly consistently in an undesireable market (Gaborik, Jones, Panarin, Gaudreau) which is something NO GM in Islanders history sans Bill Torrey can say.
I think Malkin holds Lou in pretty high regard. There was some chatter out there that he had to be convinced to not renew his contract. I’m ok with Lou being part of the organization. He brings credibility. He’s a HOF GM. I think the players and league has a lot of respect him. He can’t be the whole office though. Certainly can’t be the face of the org. They need to bring in good minds and build the front office. Advisor role sounds ok to me if he’s willing. I just don’t know if lou is built for that type of role.Lou probably met with owners / collins saying he can offer the new gm the insight towards inroads made towards resigning dobson , holmstrom , sippycup and the potential trade offers made by other gm's for other players at deadline that were put on ice .
hey , I want him gone too , but if the new gm is Darche he might like the insight Lou can offer during a short transition period where Lou can advise until June 30 . By then Darche might have all the intel he needs to move forward .

Staple and Botta give updates at almost the exact same time each day. You almost have to wonder if they have the same sources who surfaces to his lunch break or something.
The scariest part about this tweet below is if it is accurate you'd put money on our next GM being...Lou Lamoriello.
I'm dying over here (and not in a LOL kind of way).
With respect...Can you detail any of the reported "chatter" because that's the first I've heard of it.
Dug up this.

What I would have a problem with is Lou running our draft on June 27th. We would be handing a new GM Lou's team when the new guy should have been hired already and getting up to speed with our assets. While I am concerned a bit about some of these reports, it's not worth getting worked up over until the final hires are done. I would hope that the delay is because they're interested in some of the guys whose teams are still playing, and don't want to make a decision until they've had a chance to speak with them.
I also have no problem with Lou staying to advise until the end of his contract June 30. The new GM has a lot to do between now and the start of free agency, and Lou obviously knows important info - like Dobson's ask, whether Pulock is willing to waive his NTC, the potential market for JGP, etc, etc. He knows which teams have expressed interest in which Isles players and has probably even done leg work on some of the needed moves this summer. I'd go so far as to say his information is vital for a new GM to have, so if he stays on advising through July 1, that seems fair. If he's around much beyond that, however, I'll start to worry.
Good info, thanks.By the way Lou and Darche knows each others. Back in 2013 before Darche retired, he made the Devils camp in a PTO and Lou and him had discussion on bringing him in the management staff in New Jersey
LA is also looking for a GM, and the draft is right around the corner.Seriously. What’s the rush? Take the time, figure out what you want, cast the net and make a decision.
Before this announcement, the Vegas morning line as to who would have a stroke 1st (me versus Lou) would have overwhelmingly favored Lou.Staying on as in remaining the GM of the team?? This is turning into a complete disaster.
I'll freak out about the hiring decision when they actually hire someone.
Does the video of Lou walking with Collins count?Has there been any flight tracking data?
Not to mention I can find at least 30 posts where he blamed Garth Snow for who they selected in the draft. We can’t even give a former scout credit for putting together a scouting department that made good picks now?
So what. Scouts run the draft anyway. Let LA rush to a decision. There really isn’t any urgency, imo, vs taking the time to get the guy you want.LA is also looking for a GM, and the draft is right around the corner.
