New York Islanders: Lamoriello Contract Not Renewed; John Collins Searching for Next GM

The teams style of play is atrocious. Is there anyone who disagrees? How could there not be friction.

This is a good and necessary first step to make this team competitive; I hope they do a thorough search and hire a competent person with relevant experience outside the organization.
But what I’m most interested in is how the owners present this opportunity to a prospective GM - are they looking for a guy to ice a competitive next season and make the playoffs, or a guy to take a couple of seasons to build a long-term competitor? The team definitely needed new leadership, I just hope the owners are on board with a new direction for long-term success rather than desperately try to make the playoffs next season with a deeply flawed roster.

I’ll go with this: Collins as President and he pursues George McPhee for the GM role. Both agree on an AGM similar to how McPhee operated with McCrimmon.
If it wasn’t for Vegas, McPhee would have probably stuck around here. They had him as a special advisor the season before VGK became a thing.

I wonder if Carolina would let Darren Yorke interview with other teams. They’ve done well with the draft and he could be a good option as a new GM.

Hope new GM totally overhauls Bridgeport. I mean Eric Cairns is their director of player development. No wonder the forwards they draft don’t go anywhere because Cairns is teaching them how to punch someone instead of how to get better at scoring 😂

Eric, sorry that we have to take away your official title but you’re now moved to the distinguished alumni list. Here’s a box of sharpies for future events.

He was brought in under Snow to stay in the game for his next gig, so, doubtful he was going to stick around due to that association.

I don't know who but I hope it is someone under 55, older people are going to be in a win within 5 years mode while someone younger might have more patience with a rebuild which is the only thing this team needs

Three most frequent candidates for GM positions around the league I keep seeing recently.

Mathieu Darche- Tampa Director of Hockey Ops/assistant GM

Ryan Bowness- Sens Assistant GM/AHL GM (was a pro scout and director of Pro scouting for the Pens)

Scott White- Dallas assistant GM/AHL GM and was previously the director of hockey operations for a few years.
