New York Islanders: Lamoriello Contract Not Renewed; John Collins Searching for Next GM

Ethan posting about Weekes. I'd realistically like something in between a failed GM and a guy with no GM experience lolol. Like give me a great AGM

I’d take him over Holland. It’ll be very interesting to see what happens over the next couple of weeks. I’d assume it will happen rather quickly with the offseason approaching.

Holland is gonna be 70 this year.
70 years old... he's just a f***in' kid

Paul Krepelka seems to check a lot of boxes, either as GM or as a head-of-hockey-operations/President over a rookie GM. Went to Princeton and has a law degree. Former player agent who co-founded the Orr Hockey Group with Bobby Orr. Currently with FLA and was with CAR before that.

"Paul Krepelka was named senior vice president, hockey operations in September of 2023, a part of the management group that helped the Cats capture the Stanley Cup in his fourth season with the team. He was assistant general manager of the Panthers for the prior three seasons.

Prior to his time in South Florida, Krepelka spent two seasons as vice president of hockey operations for the Carolina Hurricanes (2018-19 to 2019-20)."

We need somebody that knows how to run an entire organization from top to bottom. That knows how to put people in pieces in place to handle. Our amateur and pro scouting departments we need to modernize our drafting strategies and we really need to start building a fast skilled competitive hockey team. This franchise has a brand new building is in New York and has Allstate of the art training, facilities and owners that are willing to spend money. It has a few good pieces already in place as far as roster wise it’s an attractive job but we need the right person that can handle it. We better pray Collins get this right.

The biggest thing is we have a franchise goalie who is going to turn 30 years old this summer. He’s got a lot of good years left and you don’t want to waste having a legit goalie that can steal you games.

Also, I have a feeling the veteran players knew at the end of the season when Lou knew because that’s why all the matt Martin stuff was going on a new GM isn’t going to have the loyalty for matt. And matt hasn’t said he’s not willing to play and his father-in-law boomer said on the radio he will play next year.

The nightmare is finally over. Bring back the prodigal GM. Now all they need are a few beer cans and a couple of retired ice girls to lure “he who shall not be named” back in.

How about we make Varlamov GM and then force Roy to live out of his basement?

Ivy league lawyer and former agent looking for his first NHL GM job? Sounds like his current boss...

Many thanks to Lou L for bringing respectability back to the New York Islanders. His successes outweigh his faults but he does own the downfall the last few seasons along with some untimely injuries.

My question related to a successor is does Neil Smith work for UBS? I remember hearing that once. He also has to be in his 70s so not sure if his name will be in the hat when it comes to interviews.
