Why shouldn't he? He's consistently made bad deployment/pairings decisions.
That's what coaches of mediocre rosters are always accused of. As if there would be a magical way to deploy Justin Holl to make him a Norris candidate, or some special chemistry to be unlocked in the forward group that makes Copp a 50 goal scorer.

By all metrics the Wings actually surpassed expectations and roster talent last season. So not sure what his bad decisions have actually been.

These are just typical conspiracy theory -thinking. Something is always better at somewhere else or with some different way.

Must be. Earth is flat.

In all seriousness Lalonde will likely finish the season behind the bench, but with this being his last season under contract he may not get re-signed.

That's kind of what I expect unless Detroit ends up in a major skid. Our schedule to start the year is much tougher than last year. If the wings finish another year just outside of the playoffs with a weak finish then Lalonde can take a hike.

I think he gets fired if we don't make the playoffs. No excuses even though our roster isn't better than last year...
I imagine his leash is a lot shorter than that. If Yzerman gets the impression that it's not going to work he'll cut him loose long before the season's end. If they struggle or show mediocre results early in the season, I won't be surprised if Lalonde is replaced within a couple months.

I’m not a Lalonde fan, I have yet to see a player thrive under his coaching. Some will say Raymond, but Raymond is expected to become a star. I would argue guys like Mo have not yet taken that next step, and I think a lot of that is due to his coaching and lineup pairings
Kind of how I see it too.

It’s really just Raymond who’s improved.

Then again, we also don’t really have any young guys on the roster. Which may or may not be his decision

Can't fathom paying Seider all this money and still stunting his offense by not putting him on PP1. I think people are forgetting how offensively proficient he was in the SHL.
