Proposal: LAK - NYR

The Kings should be all over this, if it were actually offered.

Fiala doesn’t play well with others on the Kings roster, and has hit a brick wall of production 5 on 5. Age doesn’t matter, because the Kings aren’t competing for shit once Kopitar & Doughty retire.

Kreider fits the Kings style much better. This trade realistically benefits the kings in a lot of ways. Blake has already sold the farm, may as well go all in.

Krieder- Kopitar - Kempe
Turcotte - Byfield - Foegele
Moore - Danault- Laf
Jeannot - Helenius- Lewis/ Thomas

Pretty balanced lineup, coveted right shot and gives us an extra 1.4 mil to use elsewhere. Still not sure if I would do it but not a bad suggestion.

Bullshit they do. I’d trade Fiala for a used diaper.

interesting idea, for a few reasons.

just need to make sure this thread is up to code with requisite habs fan complaining without any relevance to montreal... yep, seems to be in order.

carry on!

Habs fans get rightfully mocked for bad proposals but every ranger proposal I come across is basically we'll give you one of the worst contracts in the league for a player way younger and more talented, deal?
Kreider is a great value contract
so you are TOTALLY OFF

also despite a disillusioned few looking to give him the bum's rush including a handful who delusionally think Zib > Kreider, CK not ordinarily on the block for an ordinary return

He hasn't had a great year but Kreider is one of the worst contracts In the league? Still Pretty much on pace for 30 goals this year. Gonna have around 155-160 goals over the last 4 years. At 6.5 million for 2 more years that's one of the worst contracts in the league? Not even gonna mention 24 playoff goals over the last 3 seasons including a hat-trick in pretty much an elimination game.
How many assists is he on pace for?

Totally fine if you wanna cherry-pick stats for the 35 games he's played in (played hurt) thats fine. I'm not here to defend Kreider I'm just saying his contract is far from one of the worst in hockey. Very very far from worst.

not trying to cherry pick much to lower value, are we?

Are you going by how well he's played since, or are we including all the games where he has been unable to rescue to abyss that is zib?
He's fed Mika dozens of times, and zib, sucking ass, fails to convert.

Whose fault is that?

try again
with some sincere honesty

If Kreider is traded it's going to signal the Rangers throwing in the towel on this season. It will be for futures.

Yeah I don't see the point of a lateral move and I don't think Fiala upgrades us at all. They're both having underachieving seasons. I also thinks there's a fairly good chance Kreider rebounds if not later this year then next year. He has been dealing with a back injury. IMO he might want to think about skipping the 4 nations cup tournament.

Also I'm not sure what kind of playoff producer Fiala is but he's probably not near the level of Kreider. The last 3 years the Rangers have played 43 playoff games and Chris has knocked in 24 goals and 37 points. Prorate 24 goals in 43 games to an 82 game season and you have someone pushing a 50 goal season against only playoff teams. If the Rangers move Kreider to a playoff bound team this year they have the potential for three runs with him and if he's got his game back that could be a major pickup and his cap hit of $6.5 mil could be very workable for a lot of teams.

Absolutely if we're moving him we should be looking at younger roster players and/or picks/prospects.

I don't think Kreider has one of the worst contracts in hockey. I think he still can play an important role, and I actually like the original proposal.

However, you can't cherry-pick stats about his goal pace but then dismiss the fact that he's on pace for 4 (!!!!) assists and has a 46% xG share at 5v5. He's damaged goods, and I think they would be lucky to get a player like Fiala back

He's damaged goods? Because he's playing hurt or because he is on pace for 4 assists? If the guy gets healthy he is still probably the best net front presence in the NHL. You don't think a contender can use that in a playoff run?

There's no imperative for us to move him this year and with his goal scoring and playoff track record just off the last three years coming into this one it would be dumb to move him like he's a cap ceiling albatross because he isn't. There should be plenty to attract a playoff bound team as is. If you're a GM and worried about how healthy he is then go somewhere else but generally speaking a team that thinks it has a shot at winning a championship knows there is going to be an arms race at the trade deadline with other teams that think they have a shot too. If Chris is available I would think he'd be a major get.

All that said I don't know what Chris Drury is going to do and if he does move Chris he might get screwed over. Wouldn't necessarily surprise me--there's always the possibility. When your GM shits the bed there's not much you can do apart from put a picture of him on your dart board and watch your team pick up the pieces and hope the team finds another GM who isn't so f***ed up. A straight up Kreider for Fiala deal would be for me something I would consider way less than ideal for the Rangers. That would have me getting out the darts.
