Speculation: LAK GM Search

Luc says he wants Hiller to stay because of his regular season results, so any potential GM will be told he won’t be able to bring in the coach he wants. What GM worth a shit would take a job if his hands are tied from day one? What other major decisions will be made for him before he even f***ing starts?
Its pretty clear Luc is the major issue in the hockey part of the org.. the way he was talking how they make group decisions.. thats not how you do it. You hire the guy you trust to lead your hockey org let him make his decisions, you dont do a round table with berg, briss and the boys with equal votes. Thats how the ended up w PLD

I’m voting for Herby, he knows everything.

My rants consist of the Kings doing that incredibly unrealistic and unreasonable thing known as “just doing what everyone else does”, instead of reinventing the wheel.

But ok

Available: somebody from Dal, Fla, Car front office

Not available: Zito

Maybe: Brisson, Futa

Hard no: Murray, Emerson, Yannetti, Lamoriello, Holland, Bergevin

Interesting you'd consider brisson.. i like the 3 orgs you chose, but Id prefer someone that has 1 other GM gig under their belt.. like when DL came here. He learned his lessons in SJ... Edit though i did pick Futa because I dont know whose available w experience. Futa has paid his dues for sure

Whoever it is, their shelf life is 2-3 years max. It’s a blip on the radar. My hope the next failure is short and sweet, just like Willie D’s tenure.

Yes:
Brisson - Agents can make for good GMs and he seems to be one of the best at what he does.

Maybe:
Futa - I mean he seems very likable but would he be able to push back on Luc's bad ideas? And how come he's never been able to grab a GM job? If Lombardi ain't helping him I'm not very interested in a rethread.

No:
Bergevin - Montreal fans detest him. Not really up to speed on the details but that doesn't inspire confidence. Probably a part of the PLD debacle.
Yannetti - I'd rather have him in the position he's in now. Hardly fresh eyes.
Ken Holland - Simply not bold enough, plays it too safe.
Hextall - Had some terrible years as a GM.

Not really sure what's out there but a good hockey mind from another organization is probably a fair option.

Hopefully someone from outside the org.

However, if Blake did “mutually” not renew with The Kings, then there is toxicity in the org that he didn’t want to be a part of any longer. I don’t see how Futa, a man who has been out of the game and never been “the guy” is going to come in and put Luc in his place. I think he would be stuck like Blake.

Or maybe Blake was just tired of losing...not like he needs the money.

For those wondering about Bergevin and why Montreal fans and some of us detest him, here's a tip of the iceberg article from when he was hired:

Examining the Questions Raised by the Marc Bergevin Hire in Los Angeles

Bottom line is everywhere Bergevin has been has seen a very questionable culture shift. He is the oldest of the Old Boys Club. He's a dinosaur that has no place working in hockey anymore.

"Tired of losing"?!?!
I thought you said we've had four straight amazing, record setting La Kings seasons. Why is Blake not enjoying the best years of the Kings in our history? He must not be a true fan -- guess he should go find another team like he did before huh.

As burgerbin slowly, inexororably becomes our gm, i think its importantant to remember that he signed a player, malloux by name, that was convicted in a sweedish court of a sex crime. Burgerbin knew about the conviction prior to the signing so obviously common decency doesnt matter to the guy. One can only imagine what the rest of his life iis like with an amoral set of professional ethics like this

None of it really matters until Luc is gone. Until that problem is solved, whoever they bring in will just be a mouthpiece.

Do any of us know why Blake was the only fall guy? What has Luc done to warrant keeping his job? I can understand Hiller to an extent, good post season and the players seem to like him. But he did piss away a 2-0 series lead and some of those losses are firmly his responsibility. A new GM whose job is reliant on the performance of his head coach should not be required to keep the previous person that got his predecessor fired. Sorry, "mutually part ways."

He didn't just sign him.

After Mailloux was convicted, he asked all teams not to draft him.

Bergevin drafted him anyway.

Not necessarily, if they don't have another GM Gig under their belt, they have to be smart enough to recognize they don't know everything, and bring in an advisor, etc,

Don't care who the next GM is...just care what he does.....Imagine if Luc was GM, I think ths board would shut down lmao

Just to be clear, malloux was drafted and signed by bergevin

1. Futa with DL advisor is the best of the rumors to me. I think Rosen(?) mentioned Matt Greene has an eye on similar roles in the future, would love him involved and I think DL would too.

There are some interesting up-and-comers, Mathieu Darche might be a good combo of outsider and Francophone to appease Luc, lol, or Ray Whitney.

I actually think Brisson would make an amazing AGM to start. Well networked, well spoken. I just don't like the situation.

2. Don't even really want to think about it, but Zito, Nill

3. Jarmo. He had a tough job in CBJ and almost always kept them focused and competitive despite a 'nonhockey' market. But I don't know if he has it in him to take a team to the next level.

Yanetti. One of the only people in the current org who I think is totally underrated. But he'd need a good, connected AGM.

4. Hard nos-
Bergevin - it's been covered. He might be good somewhere else, but it's too close to Luc.
Brisson - let him start his management career elsewhere too.
Any current staff like Emerson, Murray, et al same as above.
Holland--dead retread, been a looong time since he was successful
Chiarelli--ditto.
Hextall - advisor yes. GM no.

basically a whole list of retreads i'm not interested in like Gillis etc. but that makes it tough because Luc almost certainly hires an 'experienced' one.

Cant see under any circumstances that Luc would have Lombardi here in any capacity, plus love DL, but let's not forget the last couple of years of moves and I also don't think his style of play works in current nhl. I just remember how many people were saying why can't he change with the style of hockey being played.

Love Yannetti, have been mentioning him for awhile, but no experience. Now I think a great scenario would Futa as Gm and Yannetti as assistant Gm.

Also been pushing for for Luc to call Janko or Mathieu Darche there he talks to the better as he can also get outside opinions on team
