Steve Zissou
I'll order you a red cap and a Speedo.
One of the videos that gets in depth with scouting him says he is somewhat similar to Jeff Carter because of his shot... loves to shoot, has a great shot, and not afraid to use it.
Anyone know why he fell so far? Great draft by Blake & Co.
Very polarizing player. I love the work Will Scouching does and he broke down some deficiencies to his game.
Granted, I like the pick (5th rounders will have warts). But it's easy to see why he fell.
What's interesting is that here in Slovakia in the first half of last season, he seemed to have got into some sort of disagreements with his club (Dukla Trenčín) management not dissimilar to those that beset Lias Andersson with the Rangers.
Dukla Trenčín is the famed hometown club of Gáborík, Chára, the Hossa brothers, and others. Ziggy played there for a couple of seasons, too (scoring ridiculous 74 points in 45 games as a 19-year-old in men's Czecho-Slovak league).
Chromiak is a native of Ilava, a town close to Trenčín. There have already been a couple of NHL players from Ilava, most famously Tomáš Tatar.
The expectations laid on him by the club were likely too high. At the start of last season, he was regularly given power-play minutes in a men's league... That just didn't work out. He looks to be very good, but he's unlikely to be another Ziggy. He scored 6 points (5 of them goals) in 32 games for Dukla last season.
There was quite an outrage among hockey fans here in Slovakia when the coach decided to omit Chromiak from the lineup for the WJC tournament back in December.
It's one reason why Chromiak decided to ditch Slovakia mid-season, went over to America, and found immediate success there.
Anyway, it's nice to have someone from Slovakia to cheer on (potentially!) on the Kings again. I hope Dávid Hrenák the goalie, too, can still develop nicely. Budaj certainly set a good example.
And I'm definitely happy we got Chromiak rather than Firefoxiak!
He's largely inconsistent
Was any reason given as to why he was omitted from the WJC squad? That is fairly concerning.

Even if Wright is the driver it's nice to see that Chromiak can play with talent. He's not just out there getting points by osmosis.
I hope he isn’t Dany Roussin version 2.Even if Wright is the driver it's nice to see that Chromiak can play with talent. He's not just out there getting points by osmosis.

Differences with Dany Roussin:
- Unsigned 7th round pick who re-entered the draft
- 2nd round pick
- 20 years old when he was taken a second time
Chromiak turned 18 in August, taken for the first time in the fifth round.

This is the hard hitting analysis that I come to HF for. Also their first and last names are different.
Also their first and last names are different.
Hard to get a gauge on his progress based on the league he was playing in. Not much NHL talent comes out of there. Cernak was drafted out of the Slovak league though.Awesome. I really think the Kings know that they must up the skill level and goal scoring ability on wing...and players like Chromiak, Fagemo and Kaliyev are going to be part of that influx. Hoping Shafigullin will come over too...but not heard any more about that...but the front office, is getting more aggressive to bring talent in and get it here faster, than in previous years.
