Man they all look exhausted. Can't even celebrate with energy. Good to gut out 2 points. Hopefully they get home and get some rest, that was a tough road trip. Still, 7 out of 14 aint bad considering the players lost and the competition we played against.

Carts looks like he'd rather take a nap on the bench than celebrate.

Earning those two points felt oh so good.

2-0 for me on the road in Nashville. Although I joked about being on tv, my friends did make it on the pregame. Not sure if I was just wasted the last time I was here for a game or if this game was just a snoozer but the crowd was very quiet most the game tonight. There were a ton of kings fans there tonight. Even some faint "go kings go " chants when it got quiet.

That... was a hockey game
I'd be pissed off if I'd paid to see that. Low intensity, few hockey moments. Anyway, two points, end of the road trip, Kopitar injured, and so on. Still. I'd demand a refund.

Please go to all future Kings games in Nashville. If they meet in the playoffs, superglue your butt to the seat.

Gutted that one out. Great win...
Hope Ferret Jackman is ok. Crashing into the boards was unfortunate.

Pearson in OT isn't fair... get a lot of speed and laugh at the defenders... He's like Hagelin, but can score.

Ok... I know we're all thinking it... just going to come out and say it... with the way the team played tonight... what can Lombardi get at the deadline for Kopi!

10M is a little steep. Would be a good way to free up some cap space... :naughty:

Are you a ******** person? Neither side did a god damn thing. We fumbled our way into a 1 to 1 ot... If their team didn't out compete us on blowing chances we would have had another loss on our hands.

Lucic ended up leading the team in total points on the road trip. Doughty led in assists. Kopitar lead in goals. You like seeing that kind of variety. Most of that came in the first 3 games, and then they had a tough go of it on the road against 3 of the best defensive teams in the league. Then didn't have Kopitar or Gaborik in Nashville.

How's this for luck of the draw:

The Kings(3-3-1, 20GF, 18GA) had a 7 game road trip, against teams that are collectively 230-131-47, with a +119 goal differential. The Ducks(5-1-1. 28GF, 22GA)) had a 7 game road trip, against teams that are collectively 186-172-52, with a -95 goal differential.

The Kings played 5 teams in the top 10, the Ducks 1. The Kings played 7 of the top 17 teams, the Ducks 2. The Ducks played 5 of the bottom 12 teams, including 4 of the bottom 7.

The Kings played 3 of the top 4, and 4 of the top 10 teams in GA, the Ducks 1 in the top 10. The Kings played 4 of the top 10 in GF, the Ducks 2.

What can you do, that's how the cookie crumbles.

Not following you....we all play the same teams at some point.

Just pointing out it was a tough trip and a sense of perspective is important. Playing a slew of top teams across the country in several time zones with a handful of key players hurt and more very clearly not fully healthy while still maintaining possession dominance and ending .500? There are certainly worse things. Just means we have to absolutely do some major work at home.

Just differences within a small snapshot of the schedule where both teams went on 7 game road trips at the same time.

The Kings had a 4 game trip earlier where they played the Coyotes, Oilers, Flames, and Canucks. Went 4-0. The Ducks had a 5 game trip in October where they played Nashville, Minnesota, Chicago, Dallas, and St.Louis. Went 0-4-1.

Absolutely agree. It's not like the Kings got slaughtered in the games they did lose other than completely laying an egg in the first 10 minutes of the Islanders game. They're back to playing Kings hockey, including the not scoring part! That stretch of games where they were sort of winning but allowing too many goals was not a good sign. But now they're tightening things up, so for that I'm happy at least.

Phfffft.

I wasn't questioning our need for Kopi, just if $10 million was too big a slice of our budget to enable us to contend in the future. That and if his play warranted that much money.

Obviously it does. I might have been wr...say, how about those Clippers?

Kopi joking aside, I thought it was a great game. The lineup is terrible without Kopitar. VL as a 2c, Shore/Andy for 3/4 C's... Lewis/Clifford/Brown scattered through the top 9... Mersch in (nothing against him, but he is a rookie, may make mistakes). They held NSH to 1 PP goal and smoked them in OT. I was expecting this to be a massacre and they came up with a win, while taking a ton of penalties. It was ugly, but they got it done. Doesn't have to be pretty.

OT: After Carter who do you put at center 3v3? VL? (may be a little slow for that much ice), Shore/Lewis/Andy? I mean with that center depth it's a miracle they were able to pull off a win.

It's all good... 10 will make the cap more challenging. Really though Kopi wasn't signing for less then 8.5. That's only 1.5M difference to not have to replace a 1C.

They go through an extended slump every year. This year it's happening in Jan-Feb. Honestly, if .500 hockey for 2 months is the extent of their "slump", then all will be well again soon.

And you can't overstate how brutally difficult that road trip was from a competition perspective. All hot teams. All playoff teams.

Yep, the Kings typically turn it on over the last 20 games. The defense is tightening up. The PK hopefully will continue to trend up and the goaltending is there. We need that scoring to start ticking up again. Considering all of the unexpected loss of personnel on this trip and the impromptu line juggling and emergency goaltending, a 3-3-1 result isn't bad. And as Brady Doty has stated, they still dominated possession most nights against top competition. I'd be concerned if the Kings staples of success started waning on top of piling up losses. Hopefully, Kopi is not out for an extended amount of time and Gabbo indeed comes back for the playoffs or DL steals a forward from somewhere.
