Also, Carter's line slaughtered them, especially with Doughty/Muzzin.

Doughty was a 67% CF% tonight overall while playing yet another 31:42. But get this: when on the ice with Carter, he was an 89% CF%, with 17 events for and 2 against. Nearly 9 full minutes together, only TWO shot attempts for the Oilers.

Unfortunately, the fourth line was a big pile of NOPE tonight, which is what dragged Doughty back down to merely 2/3 of the game.

Also I love that several games in a row the opposing star has tried to Dangle Doughty (Gaudreau tried hard twice) and just got walked into the corner casually, lol. The only one that got him even a little bit was Tarasenko and that was after 35 minutes of ice time on Doughty's very last (long) OT shift when he couldn't get off the ice and he STILL couldn't get a shot off because Doughty forced him into a one-handed backhand.

Guess where the 4th line is! I'll give you a hint:

Also, this happened again, RIP Drew:

Most of the forward ice time was fairly even again, it felt like the 4th line was playing tons because they were, 11ish minutes apiece, Kopi with the most of course.

Hose-Head was the name of the dog right? It's been way too long since I've see that movie.

It's right up there with Canadian Bacon and Lost Girl  as my favorite Canadian movie/shows.

Oh yeah... Why wasn't Brown on the first Power Play unit tonight!!!! Why isn't he being showcased for the Trade Deadline!

Such a god damn great movie... Won so many Oscars.

Didn't see the Gaudreau plays, but the one on McDavid tonight that I'm sure you're referring to was some pretty blatant interference. Doughty seems to get away with that a lot though so its not really a surprise. That said, Doughty is still the best Dman in the world imo.

I mean, if you're going to push the puck near the guy and attempt to dangle around him, any ref is going to let you play the body. McDavid also grabbed Doughty's arm when Doughty went to finish him. He 'gets away' with it a lot because it's playing defense. It's not like the puck was gone, and Doughty literally just stood in front of him till they went to the boards.

I wish I had a gif of it. McDavid didn't have the puck for over 5 seconds and Doughty was still holding him. If thats how you see it then so be it, you must have been a big fan of the clutch and grab era.

edit: Interference or holding, take your pick. Not a big deal I'm used to the refs not giving McDavid the benefit of the doubt on this type of play.

I wish I did too so you could see McDavid lock down Doughty's arm.

Not a fan of clutch and grab but it wasn't a dump and chase play where McDavid just tried to skate into the corner to retrieve a puck, he was attempting a move and Doughty stuck him. I hate the first play where a guy leaves his lane to bump and go, but I have zero problem with an opposing player d-ing up hard when so obviously challenged 1-on-1.

Hey look, you posted proof, thanks :D

updated with the video

I mean, is Doughty supposed to get out of the way? He literally didn't leave his lane, and McD held on for the ride.

McDavid skated right into him and went for the arm-around sweep to get past him. :dunno:

Doughty was hugging him from the moment of contact with both arms around him. You are supposed to let the player go if he doesn't have the puck but officiating is really inconsistent so its whatever. I've seen our D get called 10+ times this year for much less on these types of plays. The interference/holding they let go just really kills a lot of the skill and excitement in the game imo.

I'd expect my players to be called on that play, but anyways it was a good game for the first half I saw, and Quick was really really good. Here's to hoping for another Chi/LA WCF, always exciting to watch.

the boldfaced is the biggest thing to me.

But cheers, was a very good game

Meh, **** the Academy Awards. Julianne Moore winning best actress over Rosamund Pike was an embarrassment.

Disclaimer.... I have no ****ing idea if Strange Brew had ANY publically recognized success. But it did have organ based hockey fights and a dog painted like a skunk drinking chugging beer at Oktoberfest.
Some god damn sweet special effects too.

That play is not interference as long as doughty doesn't change his skating lane. Maybe if your defenders/coaches learned this you wouldn't be picking first every season.

The problem with Drew's minutes is that Sutter has very little trust in McBain. If he could actually play a solid 12 to 14 minutes, Drew's TOI would drop significantly. Maybe DL grabs a value 5/6 RHD who Sutter can trust to play double digit minutes.
