No I dont. I said he is very valuable. I just think he is going to get paid like a superstar.
Well if he gets 10 more points than you suggested, instead of 35/35 = 70 it would be 40/40 = 80. Which is basically PPG level play.

But like you said, if you are expecting more than that, you are going to be disappointed =)

His history suggests he is not going to be a 40/40 guy. I wouldnt gamble on that anyway. But someone will:)

You think he’s getting 11-12 million?
Disagree heavily, he’s going to get paid like a 1st line player, in 8-9M range and not like a superstar

Laine gets a ton of media coverage for an NHL player and is one of the few guys in the league the casual fan will want to watch play. (Zegras looks like another one.) He is worth more to a smaller market team like the Blue Jackets because of that. I don’t see the Jackets trading him.

Naah he wouldnt ever catch Matthews in goalscoring, not even close lol.

I said by that way.

Nothing in Turcottes stats screams a future 1C.
Where as Laine is on what 45 goal pace with everything that has happened to him this year and has finished 2nd in Rocket race before.

Laine isn’t still in his prime.

So it’s more likely to me that Laine could win a Rocket over Turcotte becoming a 1C making Laine more valuable in that scenario.
Today? Laine and Turcotte aren’t on the same planet value wise

More likely than Turcotte becoming 1C
I highly doubt that, Matthews is on a pace to become a proper legend, one of the greatest goalscores the world has ever seen, while Laine a great talent has major flaws and inconsistancy issues in his game.

Turcotte will most likely round out as a very good 1B/2 line center, wich would be more valuable than a inconsistent and one dimentional goalscorer like Laine.

Blue Jackets shouldn’t trade him if he wants to stay, and it would be a painful cost to acquire him for the Kings. The precedent would likely be the Carter trade, so LA would be ponying up at least two blue chip assets (and a third at least if Laine is coming over with a pre-negotiated contract). If I’m Jarmo, I’m asking for something like these:

CBJ: Laine
LAK: 1st ‘22 + Clarke + Kupari or JAD

Or if Columbus’ prefers the deeper ‘23 draft…

CBJ: Laine
LAK: 1st ‘23 + Vilardi + Grans

I don’t think I want to pay either price as a Kings fan, as I’d rather pony up for a U26 top 4 LD. I think between FA acquisitions like Arvidsson and our prospect depth in Kaliyev, Fagemo, Chromiak, Kupari, Vilardi, Turcotte as likely wingers we have plenty of bullets to find scoring throughout our top 9 in the years to come. Laine is an exciting player though, and I’d for sure enjoy watching him in a Kings sweater.

one poster said they would take Clarke one for one. So I think that first deal is overpayment, and I don't think 2nd one is enough for the jackets. I would not want to pay either.

Interesting, glad to hear Clarke is valued so highly elsewhere. Agreed on not wanting to pay either, just know that Jarmo is a shrewd negotiator.

Glad to see Laine is doing so well. As a Jets fan still trade him for Dubois every day of the week.

Laine has been neck to neck with Matthews in ESG/60 this season. When they figure their PP out and get a 1C to play with Laine I expect him to be up there battling for the Rocket.

He's not really one dimensional anymore.

To me Laine is more valuable than a 1b center.
