Shoulda got one game in
Komarov and all other projectable tall RDs would be more appealing to them than a winger prospect of Rosen's caliber.

Unfortunately the Sabres don’t have that many D prospects that they can afford to trade any of them (yet). They’re in the similar position as Columbus. And the Sabres are happy with the development of Komarov, as they had him as a 1st round talent, so for them they’d need an overpayment (think Laine for him straight up overpayment).

But given the fact that next summer the Sabres need to sign Peterka, Quinn, Levi and maybe Krebs & Jokiharju to new contracts, I can’t see them wanting Laine without some retention.

Laine - Tage - Tuch could actually be quite fun?

I`d assume it could be done if Columbus retains 30-50% while getting pick + prospect + rosterplayer?

Yes I am sure that would get it done
for that package, would expect a player with a more reliable pedigree

Laine with risks both from assistance program ,unresolved shoulder issues , questionable team fit, similarity to victor and skinner and lack of defensive skill not worth that cost.

I don't think that Laine and BUF are a good fit.
When you watched theSabres last year, you didn’t say to yourself:

“You know, what this team really needs is a big shot PP specialist for the left-half wall who struggles at even strength and can’t stay healthy. He’d be a perfect match to pair with their great playmaking centres. The Sabres are fast, diligent and hard-to-play against, so they can cover for Laine’s weaknesses.”

Buffalo literally just decided to pay another one-way LW millions to not play for them because of similar weaknesses.

I agree. Better to play it safe and get the 13th pick again.

Laine is getting the 13th overall? Maybe with 50% retention.

Laine is a slightly different player but if they trade assets to get him after buying out out Skinner, it will be pure comedy.
