Laine strikes again in Habs win over Preds!

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Maybe a lot of that is on ownership and Drury. That market is a magnet for talent but it can get derailed without a solid, properly executed roster building plan.
Their owner lost his patience, when he fired Gorton.......the story goes that Gorton wanted one more year of a rebuild, and then challenge for the playoffs, and the owner said NO.

Funny how the Rags had made a big splash with their fan letter about a rebuild. Like any other communication from corporate types, it’s always a good idea to wait til the dust settles so we can measure up their actions against their corporate-speech. 💀

I think the timing of that firing was suspicious given that it was not long after that the infamous open letter from the ranger organization when they got beat up by the capitals.

I don't think gorton was in favour of that letter, and perhaps the ownership got triggered from what they saw that night.

Why would someone want to waive him? He had value even before this season started and he could fetch us an asset.
Maybe some confusion between Evans and Dvorak.
I know for a fact people wanted to waiver wire his ass. :D

Gorton was fired after the Rangers lost 5 or 6 games in a row.

More than anything I’m happy for the guy. It’s refreshing for players to acknowledge mental health issues…

Also, what a release

And of course, Monty with the first star!

Discuss!
Great win over the Powerhouse Nashville Predators. Am I mistaken or don't they have the best record in the league and were in the midst of a 12 game winning streak?

Yep. I'm digging this Laine cat. And he's only 26? Feels like we stole another core piece
Unfortunately his contract ends after next season and then he would need to be re-signed. Is he going to take less than the 8.7 million/per? To be determined, but nothing I've seen since his 2016 draft makes me believe he will take less money.

He's gonna make what he's worth. If that's more then Suzuki then so be it.

Are you sure? Because I read it was 5 games just a few days ago in a Ranger fan thread (where they were complaining about Drury).

Yeah, I'm positive. They were fired may 5th, game was may 3rd, letter may 4th. Rangers were eliminated may 3rd as well after their third straight loss. The elimination after spending so much money, the way Panarin was ragdolled, the disagreement with the letter, Dolan was probably pissed.
