I actually work at Bell MTS Place, and was downstairs near the hallway where the entrance to the Jets weight room is at the end of the game.

Security had blocked off the hallway leading up to the exit so nobody can pass through, and I saw Laine come out on crutches.
It wasn’t in a cast or crazy wrapped up, just elevated.

Hopefully just precautionary, but he was not putting any pressure on it.
Thanks for the inside info , keep it coming . :thumbu:

Hopefully Ovechkin scores a bunch of goals down the stretch and wins the Rocket Richard. Last thing the Jets need is Laine winning it and signing an extension making him the highest paid forward in the league. It will kill this teams chances to win a Cup 2-3 years down the road. The more games Laine misses the better... as long as he is ready for the playoffs. Rest of the regular season is meaningless for the Jets. They have clinched the #2 seed in division.

Because X-rays only show hard bone etc -I do not believe swelling etc, would distort the X-ray, as the machine only recognizes hard structures. I could be wrong, but I don't think so.

With an MRI -- maybe swelling could interfere with the result--we'd need a radiologist to comment on this.

I don't think swelling matters. The bones just reflect the rays differently than soft tissue. At least that's my layman knowledge on the issue. But I have looked through several thousand x-rays from knees when I helped my fiancee finish her study to get licenced. They were all the same accuracy even though I'm sure there was large variance in how fat people were.

I love when an internet commenter can come here and just say, it's so simple! you shouldn't clock shots based on where we are in the standings, what level of star you are, which goalie is in net, the importance of the game yadda yadda yadda. You're entitled to your opinion but just know we all know that you've never played a real competitive game of hockey before.

I love when an internet commentator can come on here and tell me I'm entitled to my opinion. Tell me something I don't already know. As for playing hockey, damn right I didn't. Same with football. I was always more brain than brawn, and I felt it best to keep it that way.

so....
our captain, who is in the top 10 in league scoring, has almost double the # of blocked shots of the 3 other players you mention, and that's a good thing because he has to lead by example because he's the captain.
but the example shouldn't be applied to Laine because he's bound to get injured but the player above him in the team and league points total won't?
okie

It's well known that you can't break Wheeler. Do not use Wheeler as your role model for self preservative behaviour. That is a road fraught with peril.

I don't think these are mutually exclusive.

As far as our sniper goes, back a few years in my hockey league I took a shot right off the side of the foot and I was 100% sure it was broken. Went to the hospital and nurse was like "it's not broken suck it up". Those shot blocks can hurt like hell. I couldn't walk on it but within a few days it was better.

Sorry to go off topic here but if its' true that he will miss only few games then this is (hopefully) nothing.

I'm again trying to look at positives after the ....... 1st rection.
I'd love to see him win the Rocket this year but for playoffs he'd have to sit a game here or there anyways, no reason to play any of these guys the full 82 game schedule. So might as well sit the games now.

The main thing is that when he comes back he's 100% the Laine we have seen in the recent weeks.

Wheeler is doing more than he has to. I have mixed feelings about Wheeler having most blocks of the forwards because he's the captain so it's sort of a good thing but to me he's the most important forward of the team even though he's not a center so loosing him would suck a lot.

Of course any Winnipeg fan welcomes blocked shots by any player as it contributes in winning games big time but it isn't good if Laine or Wheeler have these values higher than some players like Little and Armia whose roles are defense first.

Aavco Cup made a decent point that the turnovers may result in more blocked shots for Laine. Maybe he has to be better in taking care of the puck then. He has to get the blocked shots amount down, closer to the likes of Ovie or Malkin etc any way possible to have better odds not injuring himself. Considering Laine doesn't do any PK the blocked shots amount seems pretty high. It isn't all turnovers that causes that stat to be higher for Laine.
