If he takes another step this season, than NYR will have no reason not to pay him, and will have to deal with the asking price. While risky, that's also a pretty good problem to have.

He definitely performed for the 2023-2024 season, but I don't know that I am comfortable locking him up long term right now, especially at an asking price that matches some of those other locked up under 23 year olds. It really all depends what the number is for longer term here.

Seems reasonable if he's confident in himself. He won't get big money on an extension now. If he continues to improve, he WILL command a big price.

If he gets 1 PP time, he already eclipses that this past season. Add that to the playoffs he had where he was a PPG even strength with some highlight reel goals and he’s gonna get paid….

It’s malpractice to not have him start on the 1 PP unit next season…..
Until they break the bromance up, there is no room for Laf on the top powerplay, unless an injury happens. When the powerplay is clicking the coach is rolling with it. When the powerplay is not clicking, every coach is going "They will figure it out." And every fan is going, "Mika, what the absolute f... are you doing."

Fleming island, Fl
no doubt a product of breadman during the reg season but the kid stepped up and scored huge goals while the ranger perimeter players crumbled in the post season... Gambling on his ability, good bet. Should be looking at 9-10million soon enough if he puts the work in this off season
