I hated the way the team was handled after Muckler was fired... But for as bad as that was Murray did a great job rebuilding... Don't have any agenda now.
Knowing there was this hole in the summer and trading the 1st is ugly though, BM gambled and lost. Maybe job worthy if picks lottery
The trade is only job-losing worthy if Ryan chooses to leave for FA and we don't trade him re-gaining the assets we lost.
How high the pick is has little importance if we get an elite young goal scorer locked up long-term. Same situation as the Kessel trade. Trading the picks turned out badly for Toronto, but I think you'll find most of them are pretty happy with the deal regardless because they have a elite young goal scorer on their team for the foreseeable future.
Effort is far more important than spending money for the sake of spending it. This team is not a player or 2 away from getting better. They need to show way more effort than what they're showing. They do that and we can become a good team again.
I dont know if this team is fast, gritty, puck possession or a defensive minded team, they are lacking identity and they better find it. I realized that Macleans style is puck possession, but with the dman they have only 2 are capable of moving the puck. Gonchar was good at this and alfredsson was good at gaining the other teams blueline. Then they try dump and chase at times and it just fails. The style of play just doesnt fit the players the sens have.
A couple better players and we could play that style... that's what sucks.
Brian Campbell playing the minutes Karlsson is not... instantly a dominant transition team... then add another good puck possession winger to help Spezza gain the zone.
Two players allows us to play the system Maclean wants to play... I think we'd instantly become elite... the difference a couple players can make with the parity of the game today.
Cheap young talent like the Islanders and Avs... lots of skill in there forward groups.
The other three teams with 11+ million in cap space are dreadful... Florida, Calgary and Buffalo. We are a little more talented then these clubs but not by much.
can't compete on a budget this low... need to be rebuilding with high draft picks, so you can eventually have another affordable talent to have a window.
yep, I blame the Sens sucking 100% on Melynk and his financial whining. He won't be selling tickets if he can't put a decent team on the ice, no one wants to watch garbage. I'm sorry, but in the long run he'll lose more money because our stadium won't fill up since there's no point watching this mess. Also the worst possible thing that could very likely happen is Sens not making the playoffs this year .... not doing great next year and then Bobby Ryan deciding he doesn't want to stay in Ottawa which no one would blame him after this mess. So we lose Silfverberg who has potential to be an amazing player, Noesen and our first this year which could be high for nothing.
If Melynk doesn't start putting some money, making deals or attempting to get this team better, I think there's a 0% chance of Ryan signing with us and I wouldn't blame him at all for his decision.
Good plan. Let's suck for 7 years and we'll be like the Islanders and Avs. People around here barely have the stomach for being 2 points out of a playoff spot in November. Let's be last instead for years!
We should all invest in apple sauce. Then we collect all the money and buy the sens ourselves.
Cause what we are doing now is working?
