Your plan would guarantee that AM and WN hit free agency as soon as they get an opportunity, leaving the Leafs rebuilding within 2 years. So it pisses away the remaining AM years as well, plus sends the team back into 10th overall limbo. You know, the place we JUST spent a decade in?

Team is not changing one bit by keeping these 4 guys making half of CAP .. all 4 of these guys are lacking required playoff skills .. it is most definitely a team CORE construction problem .. until we get a 1D and a 1G in CORE we are gonna be 1st round fodder at BEST .. but next year da playoffs are a dream .. we will be close likely but no cigar .. my guess is mgmt gets tanked mid season but worst case end of year .. they have no answers and bringing in cheap vets is not gonna solve da CORE problem

Your killer instincts starts and ends with your goalie. Get a franchise goalie, lock him up, pray that he stays healthy and you have a shot at a cup every year

I also haven't read anything that says Campbell is paid anywhere near the same league as those guys are being paid. So..... I don't expect the same level of performance.

The problem is we don't have any cap space for a great goalie. Or a #1D for that matter. So..... we really need to score a lot of goals, because that's the team we've built. That's where we put all our money.

It's true - they do what they need to do to compete. Sacrifice and a team game. Leafs should take note. Fly-bys aren't going to cut it. Playoffs have always been a grind

2 1-0 shutout and 1 2-0 shut out

Tempa didn't light up every team they played. Most of their games were very close and one by a goal or two

Leafs only won 1 game that was 3-2 by a goal

Other games Leafs had to blow out to win

He was given a 3-1 lead. He had to shut down one of the game. Hold the fort
Instead, gives up a lousy goal to start in game 7 against a player who hasn't scored in ages in Gallagher

You can argue, what's one goal, it's not like our forwards did anything.

Vasey's forward did nothing yesterday either other than score just 1 one. He won them the Stanly Cup

If you can't make that key save, going back to our division next year facing Price, Vasey, Rask, Spencer again. We will be in the exact same spot

I agree, we need a better goalie to go on a deep run.

I was just pointing out that we were pretty much maxed out on cap with a $1.65 million goalie and a lot of $ tied up in a handful of goal-scorers. All the goalies you preferred made something like 4-6 times that. Something's got to give.

It just keeps becoming more and more clear that we've chosen a terrible way to distribute the cap. It's also becoming clear that coaching $ are outside the cap and we've made a bad move there too.

What a sad sad season we just finished. It was great right up until the puck dropped in the playoffs.

this line makes zero sense ...had to blow out to win?
blowing out a team is much better than a 1 goal win, unless you live in an upside down world.

Campbell had better stats than Price through the series, but, the Leafs made some BAD mistakes, and MTL capitalized on them, and the coaches decisions were also questionable, and led to the loss.

Vasy is also the best goalie on the planet, so, he helps cover up for the mistakes that TB made, and, you cannot compare the TB defense to Toronto's and the protection that they give Vasy.

I think Jack has been an upgrade on Freddy, and i think our D was much better than last year. We did not blow leads, we just fell behind on a trap team and didn't recover. However, I'm firmly in the camp that if we can score a major upgrade in goal we should do that. What Vasy did for Tampa, and Price for Montreal, is where we need to be. I miss Eddie the eagle before his back went out. We need one of those guys.
