Very solid final 40 from the team I thought. Played for each other. Coronato and Wolf were fantastic. This kind of game really reinforces how important having vets like Backs and Coleman on the roster is. Lomberg too. How many young guys get thrown on their line(or Backs-Frolik before Blake) and they almost all of them flourish there.

It's why I would be a little hesitant to go too crazy offloading guys still in their prime like Ras or Weegar. Get younger sure, but running a whole squad of <28 year olds I think is how you circle the drain for a while.

Anyways, wolf is a f***ing beast. The lateral movement is a work of art. You can’t teach it. He’s an excellent goalie, but he’s also just a shitton of fun to watch too. We’ve got our next big one me thinks.

Coronato is night and day from last season. You could see the flashes before, but the improved skating has really allowed him to come into his own.

Unless the wheels really fall off, this team will be in a bubble/wildcard spot down the line. Not optimal from a pick perspective but not the end of the world with having 6 first rounders over three years regardless.

I’d love for Calgary to swing a trade here and get some more youth and talent through. Just keep the good feelings going.

enough placating to the veterans. If you really do want to make the playoffs and not finish in our annual 9th in the west, time to play Wolf in most of the games down the stretch. His expected save percentage going back to early November is .878 (before last nights game). What he’s doing is frankly astonishing.

Also, time to sit some of the older guys that bring nothing, ie Rooney, Kuzmenko and see what some of the young guys can do (I’d like to see Solo, Kuznetsov, Stromgren and Kerins down the stretch in some games)
