LA Kings Upcoming Salary Cap Crunch: Time to Get to Work

I’ve long held the view that if the younger guys make the needed steps that one of Iafallo, Kempe and Arvidsson may be moved before the start of next season. Not because I think they are poor or should not be here but because they need to manage the cap. If they upgrade the left side blue line then I think one of them will be gone (in that or another move), along with one of the contracted RHD.

The timing will ultimately come down with how the development of the prospects is tracking and when the decide it is time to get aggressive in the market.

So Hoven thinks, that Kings/Blake will resign Lias Andersson. Why? Lias is 24 years old when season 2022-23 starts and he is totally useless. He is not skilled enough to be top 6-player and he is not an effective grinder.

Vilardi, Grundstrom, Fagemo, Kupari, JAD, Turcotte, etc. are better players or have a lot more potential than Andersson. I hope that Blake has guts to admit, that Andersson-trade was mistake and doesn't resign him. I don't belive it, but I hope that happens.

I like Lias, kid has some sandpaper, at least from the couple of games i’ve seen him in. Not sure how many games Lias Andersson has played for the Kings total, gotta be 30+ right? Given that I haven’t seen all those games, and for those who did, has he shown that he does not belong on the roster, not enough games to judge, or is he another victim of our logjam?

My option: Make the right decision and don’t resign Brown. If Clarke can play his off side do it. Don’t trade for Chychrun.

Kempe Kopi Kaliyev
Moore Danault Arvidsson
Iaffalo Byfield Vilardi
Lemieux Lizotte JAD
Turcotte (injury fill in/platoon)

Anderson DD
Clarke Roy
Bjornfot Durzi
Walker (injury fill in/platoon)

*Trade Walker if needed
*poke the tires on Lindholm
*poke the tires on Forsberg

I am in favor of bringing Brown back only on a one year deal, and only after missing out on other UFAs

IMO those calculations exactly what we are NOT supposed to do.
It's now proven over and over again, that this core isn't going anywhere.

Additional problems are that Iafallo is a 3rd liner paid 4 mill
Arvidson is not a hockey player at all, getting paid 4.25 mill

Those 2 players need to be traded before we even talk about roster upgrades
Brown needs to be gone as well

Kopitar's minutes have to be reduced drastically. I would propose sharing duties with Byfield
Let them switch between 1 and 3rd line during the games until Kopitar is finally done
Fagemo has proven in the AHL that he can score goals, so bring him up

Then do absolutely nothing trade related until the end of next season and see where we are.
We will have more than enough trade assets and cap space to adjust the roster accordingly
Patience is key again

All of the above.

Arvidsson isn't any good, despite the fact that he's second on the Kings in scoring with 30 points in 41 games? What?!

He doesn’t bring much to the team anymore and is blocking youth.
Brown's not blocking anyone. His leadership is valuable and that spot would be a veterans spot anyways. Kings are not going load up on a bunch of kids, rookies and propects.Plus their not a serious contending team.

Valuable to deez nutz. Just kidding but yea its valuable but not as much as you think. They have danault arvi kopitar doughty and quick who all have experience in big nhl moments. Vilardi, Andersson, JAD, Grundstrom all need looks cause the time is coming where they could be lost on waivers or not qualified if they cant find a way to make an impact on the roster. Time to move forward especially as you said they arent a contender so get on the path and see who makes the next wave to build around.

Being 101st in goals is not desirable top 6 material and he is not build for a bottom 6 role.
So no, he is not an player i want on my NHL team making 4.25 mill

so

theoretically there's 32 top lines in the NHL yeah? 3 forwards a line, 96 players

would 101st not make him quite literally the definition of top 6 material?

i did drop out of college so maybe my math isn't perfect
