In fact, one can go weeks of watching games and never see a single fight.

 Maybe in a Tyke league. Come on, Gann. Gifford lays down the gloves nearly every game now.

If I was just watching the Kings, I can't even go game to game without witnessing a fight.

Happens a lot less than it used to. A LOT.

It's going to be a tough road ahead of him, but MacDermid was better than I expected at the rookie game I saw. He made himself very noticeable at that game, but he has to be very smart about his development if doesn't want to be an easily replaceable player.

Thanks for another solid article. I like the audio and video that you provide, that stands out from the rest. I also like that you reliably come out with an article/interview on a player every few days.

Sure, that is a correct statement. But you said "one can go weeks of watching games and never see a single fight." Now, I know you make it a point to be extremely accurate in your articles. It just seems you are totally out-of-character with that exaggeration.

I've done it. Several times, and watching a lot of games. You can, too.

MacDermid really needs to work on his skating. His lateral movement is really poor, his balance is below average and his stride doesn't get full extension. In a straight line once he gets to top speed he is alright, but basically all the important parts of his skating is poor. He has a long road ahead of him.

Honestly I haven't liked what I've seen out of his game. Loves to throw the big checks and generally picks his spots well though. That's the big positive. Otherwise his poor skating, poor puck movements, poor offensive sense, and poor positioning hurts him. There is some upside as a Greene type defender but he is a LONG way off that right now.

He's got a long way to go, no doubt. That said, this IS his first year as a pro...

Long road ahead of him, probably needs about three/four years in the AHL. Also has to sort out his skating(it's terrible).

Three years minimum to even consider him for bottom pairing duty.

You guys do realize he was one of the last dmen cut from camp this year (or am I mistaken?) I think he and Lintuniemi are here sooner than later.

He was in the first round of cuts. Cause he is not even close to NHL ready, for even bottom pairing work.

You are mistaken. You are thinking of either LoVerde or Cernak as those two were the only ones that lasted. And it can be argued LoVerde only lasted due to his waiver eligible status.

He's about the 7th/8th best defenseman on the Reign (and worse than Cernak, IMO). And Lintuniemi got cut from the Reign. Neither of those guys are close by any metric.

Speaking of Lintuniemi, I caught two of his first four games in Manchester, Live. He has looked bad and overwhelmed in the ECHL, that's not good.

His first four games have been a disaster. Good news is he is young, and has the Size and work ethic to turn it around quickly.

Gann must be shielding his eyes on this one. Pathetic. Kings are so undisciplined tonight.

I've had high hopes for him after hearing he's trying to patter his game after Matt Greene.

I still think that Big Mac is a long shot for the NHL, but before the preseason I had expected him to be sent to the ECHL. If you had told me then that it would be Lintu sent to the Monarchs instead, and Big Mac would be playing more games (9) than Leslie (1) and Ebert (6)... He does play a role though, with being 6'5" and not afraid to drop the gloves. 2 assists in 9 games.
