LA KINGS 2023/4 Regular season discussion

The good thing about the recent line up is finally there is a young player on every line (except the 4th).

Byfield on top line, Laffy on second line and Kayilev on third line.

This why the Kings can afford to trade or let Arvidsson walk and get rid of Lewis. Would love to see Thomas on the 4th line.

I would like a total revamp of the 4th line next year.

Dump Grundstrom and Lizotte and go with Enforcer-Turcotte-Thomas.
Thomas? 😆 Pass...

With all the talk of the spare forwards, I thought it was interesting that Laffy wasn't on the board when TMac was drawing up line combinations just before the home opener before Arvy was on LTIR. The 5th line was JAD-Turcotte-Doty/Fagemo. I am assuming those are/were the callups for any spare of that respective position outside of now Laffy. Also, they have to be sending him down to keep working the cap system.

Doty still doesn't have an NHL contract so while I haven't seen the episode that's pulled from I highly doubt that was the actual lineup drawn for the home-opener. The Kings were aware they were being filmed and aware that they would have room for 21 skaters.

My hunch is if the episode hinted that McLellan was working on the home opener lineup that it was some creative editing using a clip from earlier in the preseason.

Haven’t posted too much lately but I was wondering if anyone heard Marek’s show the other day when he and a guest that covers the West were talking about Clarke. They were speculating on attitude issues and wondering if it contributed to him not going to Australia. It is unsubstantiated of course but he does seem to have a bit of smoke in this area. Just thought it was interesting.

Apart from random speculation, did they provide any evidence or ‘mystery source’ that supported the view?

Can’t remember the guy’s name. I think the episode was after the Jets game. Clarke is interesting. The WJC stuff too. Not saying it’s true but this kind of talk seems to be around him. Even if he is a cocky bastard, sometimes that swagger can be a good thing as long as it doesn’t go to far.

58.78 xG% at ES is very good.

At The Athletic, Dom & Co. have the Kings 12th in the power rankings.
