Post-Game Talk: LA drowning in Oil tonight

I'm usually not one to speculate much on firings, but if this guy has a job in the NHL again, I will be shocked. He took an absolutely dominant 2 game lead and killed his entire team's momentum by challenging a play that had no chance of being overturned. Im 10 seconds of gameplay he broke his team, motivated ours, and since then has played pulis best forward as a defenseman, made himself a laughing stock of the league.

We need a goalie coach for sure.
Mike Smith?
Smith was a competitive guy and had a unique style, not sure that resonates as mentorship in today’s game. I’d look at whatever the Russians are doing with their young goalies, seems to pay dividends in their careers. Schwartz doesn’t appear to have a shelf life though, could be here forever.

Gotta wonder if Hiller is done with the Kings if they lose this series. His decision to challenge that goal in game 3 likely turned the series around. That was an obvious coaching blunder. To me what’s been worse had been his handling of the roster. He’s shortened his bench by 5 players for most of this series. I’ve never seen anybody else do that for stretches as long as he has. If you can’t play certain guys, don’t dress them. Dress other guys and use them. Gotta figure he’s losing his room. To top it off, from watching the post game pressers it sounds like the LA media hates him too.

It’s fun watching the Oilers destroy franchises in the post season. First with Calgary, then Vancouver and now the Kings.

It's strange that it seems to be an organizational philosophy to play this way. McLelland got fired for it, then they just tap his assistant to play the exact same style.

I understand what they are trying to achieve with their system and why, but after 4 years in a row of it not working, and players in your room screaming to change it, it just makes no sense that they just refuse to even acknowledge it might be a problem.

If they stepped on the forecheck in the end of Game 3 and 4 the series might already be over.

Koala wasn’t even a fan of it either, they basically forced him to run it. I think they’ve loosened the reins a bit with Hiller but for some reason they always revert back to a passive system with the lead.

I think this version of the Kings is being victimized by an unplayable 4th line and bottom D pair as much if not more than the system.

In past years they always had a scrappy, energetic 4th line that could win shifts. There were a lot of guys that cycled through he team in that role, but they did their job. Now they just have a bunch of coke machines and it's killing them.
