Post-Game Talk: LA drowning in Oil tonight

Saw some tweet or post that said how could you spend a time out and, despite the 30s, still come out thinking you’re gonna win that challenge. Only way they could think that is they believed the league is so corrupt they’ll get the SoCal bias and the call going their way
Were probably waiting for Bettman to call letting them know “he’s on it”

Not only were Frederic, Walman and Klingberg coming back from injuries, they're also learning the Oilers system. There's still lots of room to improve
Walman I’m turning around on, he has been better in the last few games.
I remember people calling me crazy that I wanted Klingberg in instead of Brown cause “at least Brown is physical and can fight”.
Frederic is slowly looking better. Makes me wonder if he is actually healthy but was playing nervous cause he was afraid to reinjure his leg.

I'm glad the Oilers didn't listen to me and continued to play Frederic. His first 2 games, I watched his skating and was like, uh that's his skating strides, so awkward. It makes sense now that he's still recovering

Someone said it here - Skinner has the higher ceiling in terms of when he's on he's fantastic. Pickard is just solid all-round. He's much more controlled and predictable. That's what we need in net right now I think.

People also forget that Stu is pretty young still. He's still got time to grow
The problem with skinner is that he keeps growing, he needs to lose 40 pounds

Big Dick energy is a real thing. The inclusion of Kane has completely flipped this series (along with Pickard calming things of course), all the Oilers are playing bigger and bolder with him in the lineup. All they needed was that one spark and Kane's Game 3 performance completely changed the complexion of this series. People still want to buy him out this offseason? Pffft

Not gonna lie and say I expected this, I thought he was done for the season as an effective top 6 level player, but I always knew that a healthy and functional Kane was a game changer. If Frederic can get up to speed, that's some serious depth and toughness in the lineup now.
Yeah Frederic getting going would be huge. Having to play one of Kane Perry Federic each shift would be massive

I'm actually still upset about the non-call on Kane. Absolutely bury a guy from behind and he goes flying into the net? To not call that is just blatant match fixing and corruption. There is no way around it. It was f***ing EGREGIOUS.

Imagine if Kane had done that? F*ck sakes, he would have been suspended for the rest of the playoffs. Maybe the rest of his life. Also, Byfield or Kempe would have laid in the net acting like they were dead so the refs would call a major. Absolute p***yes that entire LA team. Edmonton gets f***ed for many reasons and then their players don't dive and sell calls so they end up getting f***ed again. Like don't the refs watch the game and not get tired of getting embarrassed by guys goading them into calls?

This league is so cooked.

f*** LA! f*** THE REFS! The boys will win anyways.

To add to the hilarity of that shot on Kane being uncalled, it just happened in this exact same game Janmark was called for almost exactly the same play and it was called Roughing. Janmark’s was less egregious too.

Just awful awful reffing.

Probably the same ref for both the Kane crosscheck and the penalty shot. Looking right at both of them right at the Oilers net.

Worst officiated game of the series judging on calls made and calls missed. Missing the hand on puck in crease standing right there looking right at it followed by a very dangerous cross check from behind into the net that was simply ignored is egregious or just shows the league has their favorite and isn’t hiding it anymore.

Yzerman attempting to go toe-to-toe with Kevin Lowe in smugness per 60.

To fair, in the 6-2 beat down we got in game 2 , if Walman scored the 3rd goal and skated to center ice to make a spectacle of himself doing the gritty, you may want him off the team to.

Did he do that on random goals, because that's not how I remember it. Yzerman is wrong and should be embarrassed by that fact

I almost lost it when the Oilers go up 2-1 and immediately hooking becomes a penalty again. Just keep the same officiating standard all game; that's what the players and fans want.

Hell yeah.

I said in the GDT when that happened that it was pretty clear Kane wanted to fight Gavrikov. Gavrikov realizing that immediately could not get away from Kane fast enough.

But in the NHL, you can only evade justice for so long. So when Kane runs Kempe through the glass 3 shifts later the message is sent. After that every King shrunk around Kane or got bullied by him. He basically had free reign to do what he wanted with and without the puck.

Scary thought if you're LA. Worse if you think they're gonna go back to Kempe on defence semi-regularly in Game 6. It's gonna be chip and chase with a huge hit right on the #9.

As long as the Oilers continue to commit to the physical game LA is done.

The funny part is the Kings do actually have players that could and would fight Kane - they just suck and they don't play them.

Yeah. You wanna ask the ref why he didn't blow the whistle when losing sight of the puck, because if he did see the it how could he possibly not call the penalty shot?

I mentioned it during the game, I think Kane and Clarke will meet "next season" and Clarke will have a "bad time" answering for what he did lol.

You also might be right about Kempe, but I think they're running out of gas too, plus it seems like Kempe played the 2nd half of the game on defense.
Playing your top scorer at defense should get that idiot coach canned.

Foegele then very, very clearly hooked Brown I believe about a foot in front of the ref not long into the power play, but that one didn't count I guess. I can't remember such obvious, blatant game management in my life. It's always known/suspected, but it isn't in your face like that. I thought they were actually doing an ok job before that, especially in the sense that the Kings were falling all over the place and they didn't get sucked in by it. Just were letting the game happen, which I much prefer to the alternative.

Then we score a goal and that hook that likely occurred in the range of 25-50 times in that game is all of a sudden a penalty. And anything the Kings do that is equal or worse isn't a penalty, and they certainly aren't "missed." You can see the same ref that made the first shit call just standing there and watching the same thing go. It's f***ing offensive.
