Post-Game Talk: LA drowning in Oil tonight

Hyman with like 22 hits his last two games

Guy has turned into Kiefer Sherwood all of a sudden

I think it's him realizing that the magic from the 50 goal year has run out and he needs to return to basics.

The dude had 3 seasons in Toronto with 100+ hits. Probably just going back to what he knows now that he's finally healthy.

What did the dipshit ask?
Paraphrasing, but he asked Pickard when the last time he was wearing 'another number' for 4 straight playoff starts.. Pickard looks confused, and asks what do you mean? Spector has to clarify he means which jersey i.e. which team was he with when he last had 4 playoff starts. Pickard answers with Seattle (Thunderbirds in the WHL). Spector follows up with, 'you're the backup (I'll note here that Pickard glanced down and seemed a bit offended), but you're the starter now. How's it feel, doing this, at your age... just how does it feel? Pickard smirks, and says it feels like he (spector) asked him this last year, and draws laughs from all (that moron asking the question laughs awkwardly after everyone else).

A bush league douchebag like this shouldn't be in the press pool. Guy is such a huge prick and shit stirrer.

Like what's even the point of asking that other than to disrespect Pickard? Does he hate the team? Did Stu take him out for a day at Galaxyland and he's now infatuated with him?

All of a sudden basically every moribund player on this team flipped a switch and started playing their best hockey. Klingberg, Henrique, Frederic, Janmark, Podkolzin, Arvidsson, Nuge, go down the list. All just clicked out of nowhere.

Having a consistent strong forechecking presence on all lines is an advantage we only just obtained and are only just realizing we have. Kane and Frederic change the dynamic when they play like this.

What were the lines and D pairings for most of the night?

McDavid - Draisaitl - Perry/Janmark
Kane - Nugent-Hopkins - Hyman
Frederic - Henrique - Brown
Podkolzin - Perry/Janmark - Arvidsson

After Janmark scored he got shifts with McDrai.

Nurse - Bouchard/Kulak
Walman - Klingberg/Bouchard
Emberson - Kulak

So they rotated the RHDs quite a bit. We saw a lot of Bouchard/Nurse unfortunately but saw just as much Nurse/Kulak. Klingberg settled in playing most of the night with Walman, which was f***ing great. Emberson saw limited time 5 on 5 and almost exclusively PK'd.

Lots of mixing.

Bouch+Nurse 8:58 - 55.47% xGF
Bouch+Walman 5:00 - 61.58% xGF
Bouch+Kulak 3:24 - 89.13% xGF

Nurse+Kulak 8:34 - 68.91% xGF
Nurse+Klingberg 3:01 - 56.63% xGF

Walman+Klingberg 13:07 - 93.45% xGF

Kulak+Emberson 6:52 - 80.94% xGF

So, by analytics, worst performing pair Bouch+Nurse again, but didn't matter :) Kings really looked out of gas.

Kulak elevating everyone he plays with. I guess you just need to play Bouch/Nurse out of necessity because we only have 1 Kulak. And Walman/Klingberg played amazing together and ended up our most common pair. Would be nice to have Stecher back, clearly not much trust with Emberson still.

Very situational pairings tonight, thought they did a great job of matching against certain game situations and LA lines, especially being the road team.

That's his m.o., to apparently draw flies to his shit articles and sound bites being the antagonist and trying to provoke responses. It is deliberate and willful, and yes, frankly pretty damn disrespectful to Pickard, a veteran and well liked player in that room. Like I noted, Pickard looked offended with the pointed 'you're the backup' comment. Just an asshole question from a piece of shit who has no business being in any scrum.. a complete f***ing clown.

That was a good vet play by Arvidsson with the POP (blocker) for the 2nd goal. Looks to wind up for his usual stormtrooper blast, but takes off 50% at the last second. Kuemper thinks that it's coming at full velocity, so ramps the blocker to put the rebound off to the side board; however, with the reduced velocity, the rebound drops right for Janmark to pot.

Wish the Oilers made this play more. Easier said than done though.

Imagine the D with Viking back?

Ekholm-Bouch
Walman-Klingberg
Nurse-Kulak
