In his WJC appearances he reminded me a little of Zach Parise, not as skilled, but with maybe a better shot. Or possibly Chris Drury is a better comparison, I've also heard a smaller Corey Perry in terms of style, he's a bit of an agitator. Not saying he'll be as good as any of these guys, they're stylistic (not upside) comparisons, but he's a nice prospect. Quite a bit of talent, plays really hard, gets under people's skin, he should be in the NHL sooner rather than later. He played 10 games for the Ducks last year, and given the way he's playing in Syracuse, combined with the Ducks' general poor depth and poor play, I could see him getting a callup very soon. I assume he'd have a good chance to be the first callup next time a winger goes down?

Ponder, I usually enjoy reading your comments, but you're off the mark here. KP plays nothing like any of the guys you mentioned. When Drury was younger, he was dynamic... similar to Giroux. KP reminds me a bit of a Chad Larose type player (but young and quicker). He doesn't have all-star skill level, so I doubt he'll ever reach the level of any of the guys you mentioned.

Not quite sure if Larose is accurate either...he's never going to be an NHL All-Star but he's gonna be a 50-60 point guy.

One of the things I have always disliked about KP is that he just doesn't know when to pass the puck or to shoot it and he tends to hold onto it for too long and to try and do far too much by himself. If he can cure that, he'll be a very good NHL player (60 point upside is probably correct).

Yeah, as I said, the comparisons were more just in terms of his style (guy with a great motor, solid grit and some decent offensive skills) than upside. I haven't caught any of his junior, NCAA or AHL games, I'm really just basing this off watching him a few times at the WJCs, really haven't seen enough of him to be commenting on his upside at all. I did like what I saw in those few WJC viewings though, and based on that plus his impressive AHL stats, he seems like a good prospect to me, especially for a Ducks team that is dying for some secondary scoring. They don't need him to become a 1st liner, they just need some solid 2nd-3rd line talent, and from what I've seen plus his AHL success, he seems like a guy who could fill that role.

Also, I certainly remember young Drury, outside of the Leafs I was all about the Avs and Wings in the late 90s/early 2000s, but I wouldn't say Drury was ever on Giroux's level. He was a hard worker with a well rounded game, super clutch too, but I don't ever remember him having that high end creativity and ridiculous hands that Giroux has. Then again, that was like a decade ago when I was still in high school, maybe I wasn't giving his game the respect it deserved :)

He scored 2 goals against the Red Wings on Wednesday playing on a line with Ryan and Getzlaf. They were clicking and he 9 scoring chances, looking real nice. I hope we keep him up and have Perry play on a line with Koivu and Selanne

The Ducks seem to really be getting set for their next wave. Holland/Palmieri looks to be their next duo after Getzlaf/Perry.

Difference is, ever since his recall he has been going to the dirty areas. In his first few callups he basically floated around on the perimeter. Now, he plants himself in front of the opposing goalies.

That...and he seems to have a new kind of drive. Before he played kind of like "Oh my god I'm playing with NHLERS. I hope I can keep up"

now he plays like "hope these old timers can keep up with me"

I think that two goal night he was playing with a lot of desperation. He wanted to prove himself at the next level and was struggling. After that he got the confidence he needed.
