Player Discussion: Kyle Connor : Lady Byng Winner

So interesting kc isn’t the leader on pp goals. I would think leading goal scorers would cash in on pp.
Getting the puck to Vilardi on the doorstep is a big focus of the Jets powerplay. He's usually in the highest danger area.

Oh, and he's shooting 34.5% on the powerplay! Connor's "only" shooting 21.5%...

Looking at this, our powerplay might be headed for some regression...everyone's running hot. Pionk's shooting 30%, Scheifele's 28%, Iafallo 25% and then Connor at 21.5%, followed by Perfetti at 20%.

6 guys shooting over 20%, and 2 of them 30% or more? Seems a bit anomalous...

Maybe I missed it the thread, but Connor was named to the NHL first all star team this year! The last Jet skater to receive that honour was Selanne. He had an amazing year (regular season and playoffs) and is often underrated on here.

Connor, Hellebuyck and Selanne are the only Jets to every get named to the first all start team.

Pretty good company for both.
KFC getting that 1st all-star is a big honour. Apparently, a player can get recognition playing in Wpg. Even without wifi!

kind of cliche to post this after a huge night

however, the difference b/w KC this year, and previous ones is night-and-day imo. & has evidently bled into the top-line's overall performance.

i've been of the opinion that some key attributes of good defensive play is centered around effort, motivation, desire to make a play, and KC's engagement this year has been something that fans have been wishing and debating for since 2018, and deserves its props or recognition.

his effort along w/ scheifele's has really taken the top-line to another level.

update on this, obvs playing in front of Helle usually will have your goal-differential high (since GA is low). but the xGA reduction will help

Congratulations I think?

I have always found this to be an odd award for a Neanderthal sport. Is this a compliment or a put down? I mean I always really appreciated Jean Beleveau and like Kyle Connor he was a gentle soul and was a squeaky clean hockey player that wouldn’t hurt a fly. I would take all three of these guys on my team in a heart beat so I guess its a compliment to be able to play well but with zero edge to your game.
Beleveau may of been a gentleman but he was tough and played in the tough areas,he was also a defencive specialist ,Connor is not close to the player #4 was.

41 goals 56 assists for 97 points in the regular season.
5 goals and 12 assists for 17 points in 13 playoff games.
But ya hasn't scored a PP goal in a little while, trade the bumb.

I might be misreading you, but I meant that as a compliment that he wasn't just beefing up his numbers on the power play. There's a better way that I could have worded my initial post. 🙂

Congrats to Kyle on the first all star selection. It's the first all star selection of any kind of a Jets forward since 2018.

Once we reach free agency and Ehlers likely walks, and the Jets have made their moves (signing free agents, trades), Chevy needs to make signing Connor to a long-term contract his number one priority along with Samberg.

Given Connor is a UFA next year, Chevy absolutely cannot go into the regular season with him unsigned. We can't have a repeat of the Ehlers situation. It's gonna take 8 years at $11 - 11.5 million per season. Get it done!
