hagel didn't produce like that when they traded for him. i clarified that the contract status for hagel is/was better, but you can't ignore that.

and tampa won that trade. they could have given up more value and still won. all i said is vancouver should ask for that price, or else look to re-sign kuzmenko, because that's the better value prop
Hagel had 20+ goals when they trade for him at the deadline. Add his contract status. It means his value would be higher than a question mark contract status Kuzmenko. If skill is equal, than the fact his contract status was so favourable, means he would fetch more. Unless Kuzmenko is 30+ goals and 70+ points around then.

Hagel had 20+ goals when they trade for him at the deadline. What are you talking about?

hagel was at 0.67 ppg, shooting an unsustainable 22% - him and kuzmenko are both above 0.8 ppg this season, although both are shooting above 20% and that will probably come down for both

idk why you think they aren't in the same ballpark lol. there are canucks fans who think kuzmenko is the second coming of panarin, you can go talk to them instead.

Kuz is a pending ufa who has said he will go ufa so don't think u get as much as u should there. Schenn is a 3 ld. Not sure he gets much either. Ppl bring up Florida but that was last year. Irrelevant to schenn

How bout Kuzmenko to Winnipeg for Heinola or Dillon

Take your pick. I'd do ville for Kuzmenko
Wait so your logic is that any trades that happened in the past can not be used as a comparable because it didn’t happen this year?

Sure value changes depending on supply and demand, but to suggest that one cannot use it as a basis for fair value is ludicrous.

Kuzmenko is a great player and does well playing with other talented players. On pace for a ~75 point year on a bad team (albeit, one who scores a lot)

Schenn is a rock solid defenseman who plays a simple game, makes few mistakes and is physical. He played with TBL for both Cup runs so he should fit like a glove.

I don't know if TBL has the desire to load up for another run, but these 2 are cheap as shit cap wise, and would add another offensive weapon and a steady dman to an already good team.

What would TB be willing to offer? Vancouver can take a contract back for cap - maybe Namestnikov or Myers? But the value coming back would be picks and or prospects.

2024 2nd (becomes 2025 1st if TB advances to 2023 SCF)
2023 3rd (becomes 2024 2nd if TB advances advances to 2023 SCF)
Thompson/Schmidt
Foote/Perbix
contract

edit: for value

edit: So clearly the above proposal is not good enough for both players.

revision 3 or 4...

to :bolts

Kuzmenko

to :nucks

2024 2nd (becomes 2025 1st if TB advances to 2023 SCF)
2023 3rd (if TB advances to 2023 ECF)
Foote
Thompson/Schmidt
To be honest. Foote does not seem to be trending in a super positive direction. I watched him in kelowna for years and while I love him I haven't seen him take that definitive next step to be the kind of defenseman I thought he would be in the league. NO snarl no use of size and while buried behind a multi cup winning group never stood out.

To be honest, I believe Vancouver can do better for both players to other teams who will have the assets Vancouver is in such desperate need for. RHC, RHD and high picks.

Again, I like Foote and I think he is absolutely what Vancouver needs in terms of position and size. They already have Myers who performs the creampuff giant RD role to a tee

For the price of Schenn and Kuzmenko who would both be less than $300k at the TDL I believe Vancouver could possibly find better returns

Kuz going ufa so lose him for nothing if you not gonna pay him

Schenn ain't getting a 1st.
OK first point.

When and where was that stated? I haven't seen a single statement about Kuzmenko going to free agency. The opposite in fact as prior to signing he stated he wanted to make a home in the NHL with one team to establish himself first.

Point the second. You're telling me Chiarot has more value than Schenn? Or any number of trades made every. Single. Year. By GMs who can not control themselves.

The issue with statements made like this are they are absolutes, and almost always proven wrong or unverifiable.

they're both good rental options but i am not sure tampa is a logical buyer for either. tampa have all the top 6 scoring they need and they are not going to pay the asking price for schenn just to give him 12 minutes a night. if traded, those players are headed to teams with bigger depth issues than tampa.

also, to me tampa are hasing 3rd line guys who can grind and score. kuznenko is not their paradigm and not a guy they would be targeting as a ufa.
