Value of: Kuzmenko and Barrie to a contender

Nobody wants these guys, not even their own team.

Barrie is totally shot and I wouldn’t even trust him as a 7D at this point. He’s purely a power play specialist and not even particularly good for that anymore. Crazy he’s not even 34 yet.

Kuzmenko makes 5.5m and has 1 goal. If he made 1.5m or less, I’m sure someone would want him but the flames would have to retain half and he’d still be hard to move. Someone will sign him for cheap in the off-season though.

Conroy missed his opportunity. He should have dealt Kuz with retention after his strong finish last year. No one wants him now. Russia is calling. Barrie isn’t even playing either.

Any contenders interested in this tandem? Kuzmenko has 1 goal this season and Barrie would be better off and more useful on another team. Flames Blueline depth has no room for him.
Barrie can't get into games one a "meh" team but would somehow be an improvement on a contending team's blue line... seems weird.

I can see a team adding him as a 7th D but we are talking a pretty meaninglessly late pick here.

Kuzmenko at 50% to NYR for Zac Jones

Russian skilled player that might gel with Panarin? Laviolette will hate him, but Drury seems to be building a dysfunctional team anyways.

What is the deal with Kuzmenko? Wasn't he a 30 goal guy a few seasons ago? What is his cap hit and what has been his issue this season?

How does he only have 1 goal this season? Never seen shooting percentage fluctuate that badly. I guess next season he'll be good for pacing 30 again.

Rangers don't need any retention, we have cap space. I would prefer a draft asset for Jones rather than a UFA we probably won't be re-signing, because Kuzmenko doesn't seem like the guy to carry us over the big ass hill we have in front of us. I would assume he would take Zibanejad's spot on the powerplay as somebody who can actually hit the net. (hopefully), but I think I still prefer trying to grab a 3rd or whatever we can get on Jones.

You would have to be DECIMATED by injuries to consider barrie
this is his final year in the league

Doubt he passes the PTO gauntlet next year

You’re looking at the offer and value of NYR players too logically. The basis was your GM is making panic moves and handling assets poorly.

The 50% wasn’t to fit AK under the cap, it was hopeful enticement that he might be worthwhile as a 2.75m player.

I don’t think Calgary is in a situation to spend draft picks for a Jones-type with the currently logjam of “depth” defensemen (even if only 4 or 5 should truly be in the NHL, no matter how many 7s and 8s they have).

Still kind of hope that one of the Rangers D shakes lose and ends up in Calgary, but I can appreciate that this isn’t the deal.

These guys aren’t going anywhere.
Just finishing off their paychecks at the end do the year and off to finish their careers internationally.

i could see teams taking a low cost flier on these guys in the right scenario but I’d keep your expectations low.

Would a team like Boston maybe think Barrie could play as a #6 and maybe boost their PP?

Maybe a team like Buffalo/Detroit/Montreal etc would give up a late pick or an excess prospect hoping to catch lightning in bottle with Kuz?

They have no value. Best case, someone might take Barrie for a 7th at the deadline but future considerations is more likely.

Conroy might be able to flip Kuzmenko in a change of scenery type deal, again for future considerations or maybe another struggling valueless player.

I forgot Barrie was on the team.

Kuzmenko seems to be great the first half a year with a new team. Might be worth a pick
