No hate at all but him standing past the red line after getting the first empty netter is legit hilarious. I respect that level of stat hunting.

That he knows how to read the play? How does the puck magically appear up there?

Here's a sample of some of the top players and their empty net point stats (numbers from lockout to end of last season). Kucherov fits right in with the others, almost like the the naysayers are just haters.

I think the difference between Gretzky and Crosby here is not how many career EN points Kucherov has per-game or whatever (which is entirely normal), but that he effectively won the 2024 Art Ross trophy on EN points. That is, if he'd posted his career-average EN points last season (say, 5 or 6) he probably doesn't win the Art Ross.

Gretzky could have had no empty-net points and still won Art Rosses by, like, 75 points. I can't speak to Crosby's EN points, but I don't think he ever had an obscene number (did he?).

Fair-play with the empty-net points and everything, but I just personally don't want them to decide scoring titles. It's nothing against Kucherov, whom I like.

As a Canes fan I’m supposed to hate the guy but I’ve loved watching him over his career….but man he’s making it tougher lately. His lazy nonchalance in the all star thing was pretty infuriating as a fan. He had no effs to give and a floating ego can be tough to root for.

Last night he sat on the far blue line with his team defending in their zone waiting to get his empty net hat trick. People talk about him like that but I never truly believed it until I saw that. I don’t believe in asterisks but when we talk about him in terms of history a decade from now it’s going to hard to not remember that image.

the ultimate trojan horse trade by the rangers...grabner was absolute f***ing trash in new jersey
Don't worry, he was hot trash with the Leafs too . Worst part was senile Lou gave up a package that included Carter Verhaeghe for him, and we couldn't even trade him at the deadline because he was so bad. Then he goes to the Rags and scores like 30 goals the next season.
