Alex Pietrangelo tried to chop off Leon Draisaitl's hand because he scored an empty netter in the playoffs. Draisaitl wasn't the same the rest of the series and the Knights won. Some of these "winners" over history are ONLY winners because the NHL doesn't properly punish their actions.
Kucherov gonna Kuch, nothing more to see here. Incredibly talented player who also plays like a dirtbag

I do love the "appears" in the title. It's a cheap play and not Kucherov's first.
Doesn't look like Parros is going to do anything, which furthers the narrative that the NHL is intentionally treating Tampa differently. I guess Gary will be fine with a player or players purposefully injuring Kuch in retribution since "Player Safety" has no interest in, well, protecting their safety.
Well, that particular play was after Draisaitl finished his attempt at scoring in the empty net....he didn't score actually, but it was rightly seen as a dirty play as well...he was assessed a 5 min major.

It was a very subtle trip. It is definitely a penalty but do we have a comparable for that being a suspension?
What particular rule are you referencing?
He did leave the game, but pretty sure he'll be back for the next game though....so not really an injury anyway. I obviously think this was a dirty play though....just not convinced it should be a suspension worthy discussion.
I take it you have never seen hockey player get tripped and not get injured as a result?

Probably not a comparable. The closest thing would be a slew-foot. Slew-foot is more dangerous, but a trip like this is more dangerous do to sweeping the legs out the way he did...guys wouldn't be falling and bracing themselves like a normal trip....so brings a guy down with more force....but still not as dangerous as a slew-foot...but this one also had the danger increased due to the speed and position (i.e. running out of space) as well....again, not a lot of comparables to that for suspension, which is why I don't think I'd suggest there should be a lot of suspension talk....for me, the talk is more about.....what's with this guy, what a prick! That's what's valid here.

Just bumping this to say Kucherov is a dirty, whiny, POS player. He'd fit real well on those early 2010 Canucks teams.

My last thought on this bullshit- it won’t change, because the league is an old boys club and the players themselves don’t want any outside interference. I get that instinct, but imagine if that’s how the NFL worked- steroids and headshots would be common. What the players naturally want isn’t always aligned with what’s good for the sport or the league’s actual health, really. I’d want to take Kuch’s feet out from under him heading into the end boards, were I his opponent, and the league has gotta punish dudes when they give in to those worser impulses.

"We" just have to get used to the fact that under Bettman, there are different rules for different teams. The NHL is so desperate for growth in Nevada and Florida that they bend and contort both the rule book and CBA to benefit the teams in those states so they can in turn increase attendance and viewership. Of course, this is coming at the expense of wider ratings, as has been well-documented this year. It turns out people don't want to watch a rigged sport. Who knew?
Maybe once the new TV deal is signed and Bettman has retired we can go back to how things used to be. Beyond being a more dangerous sport for the players when you let shitheels like Kucherov do whatever they want, it's boring to know the league will throw every advantage possible at his favored clubs. The drama's been taken out of it, and I imagine the NFL will see similar ratings declines next year (on top of the ones they're already experiencing) with how they treat KC. Fans want real competition in their competitive sports, it's not hard to understand.

I don’t think it suggests favoritism for any particular player or team.
It just re-emphasizes what we’ve known for years, that the league permits a certain amount of deliberate injury as long as players are savvy about how they do it. This is a long running thing with the NHL going back to before Tampa even existed as a franchise.
I will definitely not shed a tear the day someone righteously drives Kucherov's head into the boards

Jarome Iginla should sue you for libel. I've watched Iggy his whole career and he was the antithesis of a scumbag dirty player.
