how the hell he supposed to be ready for that
What do you want him to do there?
Its hockey.. Crazy shit happens all the time and its a one goal game with 30 seconds left, gotta be ready for anything and he's gliding to the net.

Nobody is saying its not hella dirt don't get ya panties too twisted up now.

But how? You can't just decide to not be tripped

He's using his body to shield the puck from Kucherov.
the sugar pop turned your brain to mush
Which is one decision of many he could have made, brace harder, skate faster, skate slower, deke, initiate contact, shoot it earlier, etc etc.

Can he telepathically be ready for exactly that from kuch, obviously not. Does he have more options than gliding to the net trying to protect the puck, yes, obviously.

That is all. Not taking anything away from a dirty play so dont @ me in your fake internet outrage over minutiae.

As a TB fan it was a dirty, gutless play and there's no excuse for it. Don't know about supplementary disciple but it's a bad look no doubt.
update - when you intentional risk somebodys health with a trip from behind it calls for supplementary discipline no matter how the nhl has previously functioned ! bunch of washed up arrogant clowns run nhl and they stick to the old ways keeping the game seriously flawed

What are you even trying to say?

It doesn't matter what he does, if another player is nearby and wants to commit an infraction on him, he can't really stop them.

If it's not tripping, it could be slashing or a Todd Bertuzzi punch to the back of the head. You can't possibly "be ready for anything". That's kind of why there's rules...

p***y move. I have no real issues with showing some frustration, but tripping an unsuspecting player like a little bitch like that is crazy dangerous. Way more dangerous than what McDavid did.

I bet you he will turtle and ask someone else to answer the bell when the shitstorm comes for him next game against the Wings.

Yeah, just brace yourself while on a empty net breakaway, bracing yourself is super practical when you're in a footrace and someone wraps the blade of their stick around your ankle. Yeah, skate faster when you are in a situation where you are trying to cut for the net and cant skate faster (Rasmussen is not a fast skater). Yeah, skate slower and greatly risk losing the puck instead of going for a near guarantee EN goal to seal the game. Yeah, initiate contact with the guy behind you while you're on a breakaway where the objective is to stay ahead of that guy. Yeah, deke out the nonexistent goalie while risking losing the puck on an EN breakaway. Yeah, shoot the puck after you shoveled it ahead and its out of reach.

That’s more dangerous than cross checking a dude in the face?
