He would need everything to go right, to never go cold, and have none of the key players around him go cold. I think matching 144 will still be pretty tough. It's just a massive number.

That said, I think it's entirely possible that Kucherov is still getting better.

Replacing Stamkos with Jake the snake seemed to help not hurt. Still miss stamkos wish he would have taken a one year deal at 3 to 4 million. I also glad JBB didnt hand out his usual long term over payment contract to Stamkos like he did to SErgy, Cernak, and Cirelli. Now if Cirelli can play anywhere near his current level two years after the contract it may become a bargain.

I don't think Malkin 09 was very far off Mcdavid 24. 36 points in 24 games vs 42 points in 25 games in a lower scoring year.

Kucherov is incredible and has the best vision/iq in the league. Think he ages better than any of the guys mentioned in this thread due simply to that. At his performance level it's inevitable he gets compared to other greats.

Yeah the gap is closed by a lot adjusting for era but then there’s also the 2022 playoffs where McDavid had 33 in 16. Adding to that just having watched both of them during these runs I don’t have to think about who I would rather have on my team for a playoff run.

Forgot I had this screenshot and I think it applies here. 2022 McDavid per game adjusted would probably be third behind Gretzky in 1985 and 1992 Lemieux.
