Winnipeg is going for their first playoff-run in years and they have a good team. If they would offer their 2017 #24 draft-pick in Vesalainen - A true powerforward aged 18, 209lbs and 6`3", what would they expect to get to bolster their roster for the run?
I suppose a 1-2nd line fwd or a 3-4D would be needed for depth? I`m thinking Nash, McD, RNH or similar calibre player

Vesalainen is having a breakout-year in Liiga, playing on a bad, non-playoff team. He is 2nd on team in points at only 16,47min/g . What is his value and what kind of deal could be made with him as a centerpiece?

Winnipeg have Laine, Connor, Ehlers, Scheifele, Perreault, Wheeler, Little up front, so I doubt vesalainen would get a shot without a body going out?

Yes, have any kind of idea the value you’ll need to get one of those guys? It’s a bit more than that.

Nash is a UFA and McD has 1yr left on his contract. A projected 1st line powerforward prospect is a very good return for any rebuilding team. Vesalainen has been extremely good in all best-on-best junior tournaments and is now, as an 18yr old thriving against men in liiga. Do you think that Nash will fetch a lot better at deadline? If RNH would be available Winnipeg would ofc have to add a rosterplayer and a pick(2nd or 3rd).

I never said it wouldn’t get Nash, I said McD or RNH. I think New York would accept that for Nash. But like you stated they’d have to add to get RNH, and that definitely isn’t getting you McD. That offer would be beaten easily.

What you're essentially looking at points wise at this point is a lesser Aho. Aho dominated the league when he was on the ice. Do you think Aho for McD is possible at this point?
Add to that, you won't be getting that 'lesser Aho' as soon as you trade for him, you must wait for him to become an NHL'er. It isn't that attractive.

Noone is gonna drop the ball on KV, and Jets should hold on to him. We gonna need those elc forward very soon when new contracts are starting to kick in. Hopefully he can replace Matty P on the wing in 2-3 years.

Carolina isn’t contending, plus they need scoring and not Dman so they definitely wouldn’t do that.
I was comparing Vesalainen to Aho in their respective breakout Liiga years. So far I'm not comfortable saying Vesalainen is at the same level Aho was, so naturally, I wouldn't expect him to be a part of anything grand in trades.
Hell, Aho didn't have close to any value on trade markets when he broke out in Liiga ice.
NHL clubs are pretty reserved towards success in juniors and foreign market production

Jets simply won't move him.

Aho was underrated because he was a quiet 2nd round pick on a awesome draft.
I would bet the view on Liiga has changed since Barkov, Rantanen, Aho, Laine, Ristolainen have shown to be players after a long dark strecth of producing nothing.

Vesalainen had a lot more hype than Aho did in his draft year, but still he wouldn't get McD 1on1.

Jets are going to need more ELC's soon with some expensive re-signings on the way. He'll be one of the ELC's with talent so he won't be moved. The Jets seem to leaning more towards Finland these days.

I don't think you have a hope of getting any 1st line or top-4 dman for him unless he's only a part of a bigger package.
You might be able to get a 2nd line winger on an expiring deal though.

You'd definitely have to add a 1st and a major piece to get any of the players you mentioned, other than Nash

Jet’s window is just opening. They won’t be selling solid prospects for rentals. Chevy just doesn’t work that way.

Chevy hasn't been in a contending position with the Jets until now. We could easily see his strategy change.

Agreed

We’re not throwing top 6 ELC prospects for aging players or players who are a pure luxury b/c they don’t fill any big hole. We need those ELC very soon with all our big boys getting new deals. No interest in trading Ves

Has potential to be in the top 6. Not going to be given up for a rental unless that rental signs with the jets.

Well, we won’t have long to wait. I wish they could put up a “What will Chevy do” bet on Sportsbook. My bet is he will pick up a depth left D.

Vesalainen will go to the Moose next year, and we'll be picking in the mid 20s to 31 range again.

Only doubt I have about this: Chevy modeled the Jets on Nashville, and they traded away some top prospects for Turris. Who is the Jets' Turris?

Kyle Turris: 49 games, 9 goals, 22 assists, 31 points
Bryan Little: 55 games, 11 goals, 21 assists, 32 points

It has been oft repeated in other threads. The Jets will be entering a cap crunch in the next 2 or 3 seasons. They will have to start looking at moving expensive veterans not trading high end prospects for expensive veterans.

The Jets certainly won't be trading Vesalainen for any of the players mentioned in the OP.

Nash isn't good enough to get Vesalainen and McD and RNH are luxuries not needs and the Jets won't be willing to pony up the assets required to land them thankfully.
