Just to be clear - Letang did not have a prior procedure to repair the hole in his heart. This is the first time that's been done. @Andy99 is mistaken.

Letang was diagnosed with the defect in 2014 following his first stroke. He was advised he could continue playing.

The hole was the cause again in 2022.

Could be, but it could just be surgeon's schedule opened up and he chose to have it done sooner than not. It's a meaningless game.

Could just as easily have been that his surgeon wasn't available in late April, and who cares about one extra meaningless game? Pens have been cooked for months. Who knows when they scheduled it.
