GDT: Kraken vs Utah Hockey Club, 14 March

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server
The similarities between these two teams is just wild.

That offensive zone faceoff where they win it and just leave the puck there for the defense to gather up, I SWEAR I've seen the Kraken do that so many times...

This is true. The team can be very messy and all over the place. I still don't think Gru look right, he definitely looks better post-AHL but the game still looks too fast for him now. Maaaaybe ride him out next season rather than buy him out but... not an easy decision.
Buy him out. Played great last 2 games (small sample size) but his overall body of work this year still stinks. Buy him out and shore up the defense. Wouldn’t mind Dunn and big rig gone. Like Dunn’s offense but he’s a defensive liability.

Great guy.

Dunn on the other hand feels like he has one leg out the club already.

I certainly do not remember seeing Dunn as disinterested as he has this season. Maybe it is because the playoffs are out of reach but it is still not excusable for the level of play. He still has 2 more seasons at 7.35M AAV. He had a full NTC this season but the next two are with a 16 team NTC. I would not mind seeing him traded either but not sure Francis would.

There are just too many passengers on this team. Or players who want to get by just on skill and not effort. Things have started changing with the TDL but there needs to be more player movement this off-season for a "culture" or locker room reset.

I think Dunn still has trade value because of his offense.

Might have to eat some of that contract or throw in a draft pick sweetener though.

Nah. Dunner will have positive value. 100%. He was on pace for 63 points last season and in a shit season like this, he is still on pace for 54 points. He plays with an edge and is generally not bad defensively. This has been a really off year for him.

He is signed for 2 more years at 7.35M which is not bad considering the rising cap. To me, he is a legit top-2 D-man who is having a terrible year. He will have more than just positive value.
