GDT: Kraken vs Utah Hockey Club, 14 March

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

The issue is the replacement goalie might not any better heck could be even worse than gru and as long as the skaters are playing like meh it doesn't matter who the goalies are in net.
Agreed on both counts. But while replacing Gru may be more of a lateral move, it is more or less telling the team that if you don't perform, we will replace you. We have too many floaters on this team half assing it. But at the end of the day, does not matter if it's an effort or talent issue.

And how is the goalie suppose to perform good or better if the players in front are playing like trash there lies the issue. Utah was lucky on the first goal then seattle skater breakdown on the 2nd goal. I am not convinced it would not be a tied game with us leading if daccord was in net and i am not saying daccord is bad. I think he's a fine goalie but even he has given up goals where it was ones where he should have saved or ones due to meh skater quality of play.

If we can't get the skaters to do their jobs we aren't going to get anywhere closer to the playoffs no mattter who's in the net.

I am not getting into this discussion again. Grubuer's production with the Kraken is not a one off. He has been with us for 4 seasons and has never had a 0.900 or better season.

Absolute insanity to argue Grubauer's level of production is worth $6m/per. Better goalies on worse teams have better numbers. Tiresome.

Also turned the game on just in time to catch the odd-man rush drill both teams are running this period. Defense optional, apparently.

Another nice bang-bang goal, Olczyk seems to think it's gonna get called back?

Doh it hit the post

Again, Vejmelka on a snap bang-bang play like that reacts fast enough to get a piece of it. This time it's enough to deflect it into the bar.

And then on the other side of the ice we have Grubauer swimming around on his knees while Schmaltz and Stenlund score.

Vejmelka just earned a tidy raise on his contract starting next season ($4.75m), and it's STILL not as high as Grubauer's ($5.9m).

But hey some folks on my Ignore list want to argue about that.

Kakko had two "assists" off the post and now he gets a cookie from Sergachev and Vrejmelka. Good for him.

I hate the Kraken "organization" in the D zone, it's too complicated and the players end up being two steps behind the play for no good reason whatsoever.

Man oh man, another spectacular save and then he just lays there on his side looking at the Utah and Seattle players scrabbling for the rebound? What the hell?

Holy hell Utah is somehow worse in their zone than the Kraken. I have no idea how that's even possible.

OK I take back some of the stick I just gave Grubauer, he lays on his side after that save because Carcone runs him. Should have been called probably, as he's in the blue paint when Carcone shoulders him in the head.
