OT: Kraken OT Lounge: No Calamari allowed

Good luck. Must be nice to have such a nice rink in your area.

To be fair, a lot of the rinks around Seattle are not nice. I thought Kingsgate was a dump and it's apparently not even the worst rink in the Seattle area.

I hope that the rise of the Kraken will inspire people to invest more in the arenas around here. I came here from Pittsburgh about a year and a half ago and there were some absolute dump arenas before Crosby and Malkin, but they were getting consistently better as more and more people were interested in the sport.

For example, we had this awful rink:

It eventually got massive funding and even hosted a Penguins pre-season game IIRC.

/\/\ It IS the worst rink in the area now. An old safeway converted to ice rink and the locker rooms are all odd tetris shapes. The other one in contention (Highland) closed down this year to make room for more condos. It won't be missed with its 1 locker room at rink level and 1 locker room up 2 flights of wooden stairs. The other rinks are fine.

I've started playing pickup hockey again at KCI after struggling last year in Kingsgate, but man I'm so glad I started playing again. The KCI rink is amazing and the pickup sessions have mostly been really fun.

I went to the rink initially on a date to watch the Kraken game at 32 Bar and Grill, and I liked the rink so much that it made me start pickup again. Now, I can't wait to start the adult league in the fall.
Welcome to the world of playing hockey. If you want to join a league pick either the KHL if you live north, city or south end of Seattle, else SKAHL if you live eastside. KHL is huge and you'd be playing at KCI but also Everett or Kent.

Too bad the 32 bar is really expensive. $9 for a beer now. Burger is $19 last time I ordered. I enjoy their fish and chips (Canadian / beer battered style, not this panko crusted BS)

Do we have any Blue Sky users here who would be able to share an invite code with me? I see a lot of hockey folks moving over and would love to be able to join.

Might any of you fine folks be able to pick up something for me from the Kraken team store if I PayPal you in advance? Shipping to Canada is ludicrous. Playoffs shirts are on sale in limited supply and available nowhere else.
I could pick it up when I’m next in Seattle (likely October or November).

I would have been happy to help but I am a good 1.5 hours from Seattle.

I live 10 mins from the Iceplex and will be in Vancouver every other week for the summer. I can buy what you want and mail it within Canada if you want.

That would be awesome! And hugely appreciated! Send me a message on FB if you’re comfortable doing do.
I’m the be only Kevin Zarifeh on the planet.

Anyone in the Seattle area know of a good cannabis delivery service? Or even just a well stocked and reasonable shop. Is Shawn Kemp's store any good? I'm looking for some strong gummies for Jays weekend and despite the legality on both sides of our border, no bueno to cross with it.

There are pot shops all over. Kemp's I recall being more expensive. I usually go to Dockside Cannabis with a few locations. If coming from Canada, the Green Lake location is pretty easy to get to/from I-5 on your way into town from the 85th street exit.

Surprised, excited, but disappointed.
I won second place in an online raffle, and now have FREE lifetime tickets to Canucks home playoff games.

First place was a free oil change.

It's still illegal on a Federal level. Guess who protects border crossing?

I wasn't wondering why it's not ok to cross with it.

Anyway, I found a place I liked. Bleachers Pub on Greenwood Ave. North. The nachos(shredded chicken, and taco beef options) are really good, as were the Buffalo chicken and meat lovers pizzas. I definitely recommend the kitchen there.

Heading to the Seahawks and then Kraken games this Thursday and Friday.

What will be open after the Hawks game on Thursday? Flatstick closes early, but looking for something similar. I'll be staying right DT but willing to Uber outside the downtown core.

Thanks!

With it being a holiday, who knows what will be open after 9pm on Thursday. There will likely be a few bars near the stadium but everything could also be closed. I went to a Thanksgiving game in Detroit a few years back and the only thing open after the game there was a casino and there isn't a casino in downtown Seattle.

Restaurant here in Vientine Laos. You can guess where my mind went to right away

The worst weather all week. I ended up putting in 96 hours of work over 7 days. We only just found ourselves above freezing at my house this afternoon. Everything is still VERY frozen and I'm not here for it. I ended up with 1 FOOT of snow at my house, shortly covered by 3/4 inch of ice and a solid 7 days up sub freezing temps. It's ok where people are ready for it, but not here... and we're more ready than anybody within a 90 minute drive. As Shoresy would say "so dumb".

How did Seattle fare?
