GDT: Kraken @ Hawks, 18 Mar 2025, 7:30 PM CT, Post St Patricks day edition

My eyes were bleeding watching this team play last night.

First game of the season that I literally had to turn off after the 2nd. I can usually make it through regardless of the score but with all the missed defensive assignments and bonehead plays I figured I was better off watching 90 day fiancé with my wife.

Terrible season, let it be over.
I turned if off after 5-2. Felt like a complete waste of time.

Sullivan did great things with Pitt. That would be a great hire.

These young kids are flailing with the shitty coaches. Bedard’s defensive game has regressed if that even possible. The d coverage by the forwards is brutal and I haven’t seen a young forward progress - Bedard, Kurashev, Reichel, etc.

That team was neither young nor marginal when Q arrived. His 1st season with them was actually their fewest points in the previous 5 seasons-including one year with Bob Boughner as head coach.

The team was peaking when they added Reinhart, Bobrovsky and Verhaege to the team along with Ekblad and Forsling maturing.

None of that looks like this year's Blackhawks

Barkov was 23, Ekblad was 23
They had less points because they played 13 less games (covid)

They were a marginal team (not making the playoffs) and when he was dismissed they were one of the top contenders in the league.

No one said it resembled this years Blackhawks team, that wasn't the criteria. You said a "marginal team" and the Panthers were exactly that.

And to add, the Toews Kane Blackhawks were a young marginal team when he became the coach. (Hadn't made the playoffs in 5 years, youngest team in the league). But go ahead, move the goalposts.

They finished 1st in Atlantic a couple of seasons before Q. Ekblad was 19 and Barkov 20 . Quit pumping Q's tires on this one

So you ARE saying that Hawks team is similar to this Hawks team.
Hawks are a couple of ticks from being the youngest team in the league and haven't made the playoffs..
I think you are trying to reply to me. No, that's not what I said. I was just refuting your post about whether he has coached a young team up.

I don't think any coach could get anything out of this roster.

Mike Sullivan has a history with the Hawks though...maybe PIT moves on from him and brings in Q for one last last last run with that core

Agreed with the first part

Q would be insane to take that job. Dubas will hire someone he has a history with. Maybe tank commander Eakins with Mckenna and DuPont in the next two drafts. Also could see former Leaf assistant DJ Smith

Sullivan would be a fantastic get. If not him we need an experienced coach. I think Lavy would be good. Expecting him to be done unless Rags go on a run, which is possible in a wide open metro. Gallant has a short shelf life but would peak my interest.

We cannot afford to take a chance on another coach cutting his teeth in the NHL.

Neither Lavi nor Gallant have been great with young talent hard pass.
