I feel like this has been every game for the last 20. If this keeps up, eventually they won't be able to keep winning 75% of games that are coin flips. They need to get this corrected before the playoffs.
This win was far cleaner than some of the OT wins.

Devils never let the Kraken breath and rolled four lines.

Might have been Nico's best game of the year.

Haven't seen them mentioned on here but really noticed Sharangovich, Tatar and Zetterlund in positive ways.

Bratt also seemed more involved than usual (on both ends).

I‘d certainly keep Sharangovich and Zetterlund with Haula for awhile. They created a good amount out there. Haven’t seen Rango get shots off like that in awhile. If he can get to those areas again, he will go on a hot streak eventually.

Palat-Hischier-Holtz (give the kid a chance with their two most responsible all-around forwards)
Tatar-Mercer-Bratt (try to rekindle that Mercer-Bratt combo from last year)
Sharangovich-Haula-Zetterlund
BMW

I‘d give those lines a look next game. Try to spread the wealth the best we can while Jack is gone.

Interesting. I kind of liked some of the things Holtz and Mercer did together.

The silver lining of Hughes being out is the need for other guys to find their games and score. There's a good deal of extra playing time available and an opportunity for others. The secondary scoring to be primary.

There is no silver lining with Hughes being out. He's chasing history now and missing games makes it a whole helluva lot harder to reach those plateaus.

I think if you asked me then I would have said my favorite player was Verbeek or Cirella...but I don't think any rose to the level of "love" individually. I think in 88' my love still went to Mark Johnson, Mike Eruzione, and Jim Craig.

I would have said Dougie Brown. Still one of my favorite Devils today.

Great win tonight, Blackwood was absolutely fantastic and Dougie is just becoming a lock with that shot.

Crowd was fantastic tonight too. So much fun seeing so much energy back in the building this late into a season.
You should bring back the supporters section that you helped start back in 2011. Wish that caught on more but it was fun sitting up there one of the games I went to.

It was another gutsy win tonight. We're 5-0-0 in our last 5 home games after having a really mediocre home record compared to our away record. That's a good response right there. We still need to have a convincing win soon where it isn't a come from behind win or a game where we get outshot but I'll take these wins any way they come. It's crazy how much better our goaltending is compared to last year.

Not having Hughes out their is a big blow but we still have a very talented team. I'm interested to see how some players try to step up in his absence.

Their best player wears number 13.

And even last season this team was always more effective when it played 20 man hockey like it did tonight.

They look like fried ass for the first half of the game. Hischier is awesome but he's maybe the 5th most important Devil this year which there's nothing wrong with it. He's probably behind Jack, Bratt, Dougie and Vanecek in terms of importance and overall play. The fact an almost PPG 2C is your 5th best player speaks volumes to how great this team is.

look man, I know this is kind of your "schtick" and I absolutely love Nico, but he is absolutely nowhere near Jack's league.

Earlier in the season I might have bought it when Nico was also above a point a game but now that he's slightly below it and Hughes went to warp speed offensively, it's hard not to say it's Hughes. Yes Nico plays better everywhere else besides offensively but you can also make up those areas more with good team play than you can compensate for Jack's offense (exhibit A, Haula and McLeod being stapled to Jack for faceoffs...you can't exactly do that to find goals). I mean even last night they didn't score a single five-on-five goal.

Just be glad he likes ONE of the team's best four skaters since he slags the other three (Hughes, Dougie, Bratt)

I carried the crowd on my back last night. I’ll be joining Hughes on the injury list it’s so sore.

Since we probably won't get to see 50/100 from Hughes it would be cool to see Dougie break the franchise goals and points record on d. Still a long way to go though.

Dang, it just occured to me that we couldve seen the overall franchise record for points and goals broken the same year as the defense record. Goddamn it.
If he only misses 5-6 games, you probably still have a really good shot at it.

Eh you also have to factor in if the team's solidly in a playoff spot the last ten games or so they are going to load management their best players going into the playoffs.

I mean I can just imagine @Bleedred telling his Mom, "Look, Mackenzie seems like a good dude. But you have to understand...he...unequivocally....absolutely...without a doubt in my mind......110 percent...SUCKS! Enjoy the game, though" :sarcasm:
Naw man, he wouldn't have said he thought he was a good dude. That part is ridiculous. Lol

That was one of the best games they have played in awhile. Yea, they had a couple of flubs, especially early on, but they played a controlled game and out played Seattle. Good solid game. My only complaint is I would like to see more secondary scoring.
