3 years at 6 mil is ugly for an aging player that wont crack 20g or 50ptthis year

if the kings eat half his hit they might be able to unload him for something.

Burakovsky for [email protected]?
On about 25 other teams he could come close to or exceed this, guy still has offensive skills to hit this number but the Kings are system obsessed and Kovy is not a great defensive forward.

To give you an example how the Kings have mis-used this guy,. they sign the guy for the 1 timer from the circles on the PP. Or at least that is what the sold us. Instead for a chunk of the season they had him stand in front of the net on the PP.

People who watch Kings games night in and night out probably have a greater understanding of what kind of skill set is there. Obviously not the Kovy when he was with the Devils, but he is still a 2nd line skills, and if the Kings pay part of his salary, could be a great pick up for a contender.

I don't have a problem with you/your team not wanting him. But spreading misinformation is not cool. If he really wanted to be in the KHL, he would not of signed with LA. It seems Blake is trying to do the right thing, by sending Kovy to a contender since it all went to hell in LA. Im sure Kovy wants to play for the Cup contender and that is something we won't be in the years Kovy is signed

Rumor: - KHL insider hints that Kovalchuk isn't staying in LA

Lol, spreading misinformation? Take it up with this Tweeter. Granted I only read a couple pages and hadn’t heard anything for a month or so, but that news doesn’t surprise me nor would his bolting surprise me. Shouldn’t surprise anyone if he does. Appreciate the talking to, though.

I don’t trust him, he takes up way too much cap...think I’ve said no thanks enough. Even at 5.

The twitter fella seems not have a source. Seems more like speculation, since Willie had taken over two weeks prior and was butting heads with him for no reason or maybe was playing injured (since he did not play for November 29-December 21 due to an injury).

Plus, I don't see the Panthers as a contender, so you don't have to worry about Blake trading Kovy to your team

I don't watch too many Kings games, but his stats look decent. Nearly 50 points over an 82 game projection while playing on a bad team.

Isles desperately need someone who can shoot on the PP. Does Kovy still have his shot? If so, NYI would be interested at a reasonable price, even with Kovy's 3-year contract.

True, but he seem like a worst version than Eklund.

You’re forgetting that willie desjardins is the coach. This idiot has Nate Thompson playing more minutes than kovy. That should say it all.
For like 10 games before the new year. In 2019 Nate is back to around 12 min a game and Kovalchuk never skipped a beat with his PP time

Yes, his shot is still very good and his playmaking and vision are excellent. His footspeed is fine - he doesn’t have gamebreaking speed but he’s not lagging behind on odd-man rushes or anything. Kovalchuk knows where to be to get the puck and where people should go when he has the puck.

Have his skills declined since he last played in the NHL? Sure, but he was one of the best in the world then. Everyone ages. But he’s still a very good player with some elite skills.

So what would the asking price be from Vancouver? The contract isn't a deal killer, but we can't surrender premium futures for Kovalchuk. We would also have to move some roster players around, so is there a current roster need that LA is looking to fill?

In that case, I would hope the NYI would pursue a trade if Kovy is indeed available. I think both teams are a good fit for a trade.

He faced LA in the 2014 finals, what the **** are you on about?
OK then you keep him. Sorry. I am sure the fans of the Devils would appreciate the fact that he is no good. Have fun ending the season in last place in the NHL...…..or damn well close to it.

Kovalchuk signed with LA to win. That clearly won’t be happening any time soon. If Kovalchuk wants to go to a team with a better chance of winning, said team wants him, and LA can get pieces for the future, it’s a win-win all around. Why so hostile?

When the Bolts drafted 2 Russians named Namestnikov and Kucherov, I went ballistic about drafting Russians, obviously, I was wrong then. Kovalchuk was my poster boy for not liking Russians. Again, I was wrong. I am big enough to show my mistakes.

Correct me if I am wrong didn't Kovalchuk play with the devils when they lost to the Kings in 2011--2012 I would think his 19 points in 23 games is sniffing the cup as u called
