I know this may sound a bit crazy but send Anderson and a 2025 3rd and a 2026 2nd to the Ducks for Gibson. With the Ducks retaining 2 million insalary

Logic. Duck are rumored to looking at trading Gibson by taking Anderson in trade they free up an additional 1 million this year but Anderson’s salary comes off the books next season this gives the Ducks basically a 2nd and a third for a player that the ducks want to trade anyway.

This would give the Canes a number one goalie, with proven playoff experience without giving up a player they neef
Is Gibson really that any more? He's not a #1 goalie in Anaheim right now. He hasn't played in the playoffs in 7 seasons.

I haven't watched much of Gibson to comment on his play, but his numbers are pretty bad. while some of that can be attributed to the team in front of him, not all of it because he's been performing worse that some of the other goalies on his same team for some of that time.

This is exactly the bullshit I DON'T want.

Giving up picks because we kept andersen around.
We are going to do it anyway now. Or do you give up players? I didn’t want Anderson either but now faced with reality, what else are we going to do?

That’s a fair question, I however look at the Canes defense which can elevates good goalie to an excellent goalie so if Gibson come in and plays with say a 890 to 900 save percentage I think he would do very well with the canes. He also playes a lot of minutes

Re: trading Freddie.

Since his operation was a "simple" knee cleanup I'm thinking that Freddie will have more value for the Canes. If you must trade him that you wait until he returns and demonstrates renewed capability.

FWIW, I wouldn't trade Freddie unless a team is willing to unload a lower cost higher quality goalie (ie Askarov (missed that boat) or a Dostal (fat chance Anaheim would trade him).

Finally, please note that I believe Freddie has a 15 NTC so that hinders Tulsky's ability to deal anyway.

I had Anderson in the trade to make the trade happen. Even if the LTIR him that would give us only 5.8 million with Fast LTIR. Leaving us no room for any other injury

8 would be the only one but with the new coaching change the Blues are probably in a holding pattern to give Montgomery a chance to assess.

Detroit has Talbot Lyon Husso and Campbell I’d be calling there to see who’s available. They also have their top prospect Cossa in the ahl as well. I would much rather at least have Campbell or Husso backing up or starting while Kooch is down

One of the reasons you stockpile picks is so that a scenario like this doesn't hurt you as badly if you have to pull the trigger on it. Ideal? Far from it but at least you're only costing yourself 1 out of 13 bullets instead of 1 out of 6/7.

I get that, but keeping Andersen around was just stupid. I get it, I do, but we KNEW he would cost us.

I’d be all about mrazek. He’s the most fun to watch goalie the canes have had since Irbe, maybe the most fun in the league today. From what I’ve read on the main board he’s one of the only players on the hawks playing worth a damn… They may as well keep tanking
The Hawks are gonna be keeping him, I wouldn't get my hopes up. That'd be fun as hell, though.

It hasn't cost the Canes anything yet. He's a legit #1 making 3.4m a season. If they spent 8.5 million on a goalie this offseason, oops, Marty Necas might have 33 points for the St. Louis Blues.

The Canes can make the playoffs with a backup goalie getting most of the starts. Kotchekov has an unimpressive .904, and still was 10-2. The way it will cost them, is if he's hurt during the playoffs.

But as of now, Anderson is the best bet this season barring some magical front office wizardry.
